I've been tagged!

I've been tagged by Laura and the game was to post a picture of your very first scrapbook layout, write a few word about what you were feeling at the time, and pass it on to 5 others. SURPRISE! I've never done a scrapbook layout. Not EVER! LOL Well, I still think it sounded like fun so I will post my first ever cards. It has been a year this week since I got my Cricut and I made these thank you's to send to my friends for my birthday 'prises. I was so excited to make my first post to the Cricut message board because I had joined even before getting my bug and felt pretty proud of myself. I still don't think they look half bad. Thanks Laura for thinking of me even if I did have to bend the rules a bit. Now I will pass this on to Aymee, Jen, Shelly, Sandy and Jeannie. I know the first 4 of you do scrap. I'm not sure about you Jeannie. If not I'd LOVE to see your very first card!

P.S. I know I've been terrible about posting a number of lovely awards. Please don't think for a minute that I don't appreciate them. I will get around to it but I'm a bit stressed with a number things being due in a short time so please bear with me. Hug! D

I've been Tagged

I've been tagged by my dear friend (and BBTB DT sister) Jen so here's my 6th picture in my 6th file. I can't believe it's not a cat picture. LOL This bouquet is from my garden and sat in the niche at the end of our entryway last May. Nothing makes me happier than fresh flowers in the house and if they're from my garden so much the better. We have more than 70 roses in our yard and I've been wondering how I ever kept up with them all until I remembered that I didn't get my Cricut until the beginning of May last year. LOL I'm afraid I'm a bit behind this Spring but we're already getting buds. WooHoo!

I think it will be fun to tag some of my newest blogging friends to get to know them better so that will be

Thanks ladies for following my blog and be sure to comment HERE to be entered in my Blog Candy draw. Can't wait to see your pix. xxD
Also if you'd like to play along with this tagging business (I really think it's FUN!) my dear friend DeeDee is offering up some BLOG CANDY so check it out HERE.

Pinch Proof and I've Been Tagged!

I remember when I worked on St. Pat's Day I had a struggle getting dressed because without something green on some people really couldn't resist the opportunity to pinch. One of my BFF's is a teacher so I decided to make her something that would assure she would be "pinch proof" for the day. I used the St. Patrick's Day printable stamp set from The Cutting Cafe for the center of the little pin I fashioned by making a rosette from ribbon and glued it atop a Nestie scalloped circle. It was the perfect size to punch using my 1 1/2" circle punch and I colored in the little shamrock with a Bic marker and added some Crystal Effects and an adhesive bead. I glued a pin to the back of the rosette so no matter what she wore she'd still have a little green.

The accompanying card has a base cut with my Cricut using the Wildcard cartridge and DCWV's Green Stack. The March Calendar is from the 2009 Calendar set from The Cutting Cafe. I know I'll be using this set alot because each month is offered in several sizes in both a circle and square design. The shamrock and "pinch proof" also came from the St. Patrick's Day set and I was really proud that I managed to resize the shamrock all by myself using the instructions Regina has on The Cutting Cafe site. I have to say I'm really pleased that these downloadable stamps are so easy to use because the my computer skills leave alot to be desired. LOL

Are you wondering about the 5th pic? Well DeeDee, my sweet friend and DT sister for both BBTB and The Cutting Cafe has tagged me. I was to find the 4th pic in one of my files and explain it. This is my adorable Jezebel asleep on the dining room chair. I couldn't resist snapping her snoozing because that's about the only time I can capture her on film she's such a wild girl. since this is my first post as a DT member of The Cutting Cafe I'm going to tag Teri, Tracy, Enfys, and Nikki, a few or my fellow designers. Please click on the names of each of these ladies to view their fabulous blogs. And be sure not to forget DeeDee!

Jezebel's Valentine to Daddy, Day 22, and I've been tagged!

My Hello Kitty Cricut cartridge FINALLY arrived and I was so anxious to try it out. Jezebel wanted me to make a Valentine for Daddy IMMEDIATELY and I was happy to oblige. This cartridge is really a no brainer with shaped cards already on there for the cutting (no messing with welding in Design Studio) so I was able to do it all yesterday afternoon at Leah's (BeeCherryLady on the Cricut message board) while we gabbed away. LOL Jezzie chose red, black and white to match the cards Goliath and I were giving DH (I'm surprised she didn't want pink and sparkly) so I decided to cut the bow and heart out of red metallic cardstock to add a little bling. The bow was cuttled with my Swiss dots Cuttlebug folder and "I love you " was embossed on the heart. The kitty herself I cut out of white glossy cardstock and I added some glossy accents to her eyes and nose and popped her bow, the heart and paws for dimension. A really simple card but isn't she sweet!? This is card #22 for Jen's card a day challenge. Be sure to pop over to her blog HERE to see all of the gorgeous things she's been creating.

Also I was delighted to see that my new blogging friend Linda at Pinklilacs had tagged me. This is a fun way to get to know your cyber friends better. In this case I was to go to where I store my pictures and find my 6th folder and post the 6th picture in the folder and explain it. Mine is a picture of my family room fireplace all decked out for Christmas. All my rooms have themes for Christmas and the family room is "Christmas in the Vineyard" as we live in Livermore which is CA wine country of the East Bay (of San Francisco). Now I shall tag 6 friends who visit my blog that I would like to get to know better. They are:

I've been Tagged!

How fun! I've been tagged by the talented Heidi Van Laar. I'm really enjoying all of the friends I'm making since owning my Cricut and starting this blog and seeing their wonderful creations and sharing their lives. Thanks for thinking of me. It's taken me awhile to get all of the rules down since I'm so new to blogging but here goes. Okay, I'm having technical difficulties pasting the "I've been tagged" thingey with the rules to my blog. (I told you I was new and practically computer illiterate.) I've been trying for half an hour and need some breakfast I'll be back. I'd hate for my friends not to be able to participate. The rest I managed to do although I haven't officially notified my buddies since they can't proceed until I get this done. Ahhhh, sweet success! No excuses now.

1) I NEVER go barefoot. I can barely deal with sandals when it's 100 degrees because my toes are always froze (like in the Diana Krall song and the name of my blog). I must be the only person alive who has to wear layers of socks in my slippers (even in my Uggs) even in the summer.

2) I was a natural blonde for 49 years until I took the plunge and went red. Thank heaven my husband loves it (like getting a brand new wife without the alimony LOL) 'cause I don't think I'll ever go back. (Sorry Jane and Becky.)

3) I've never been fond of my first name because it doesn't have any cute nickname. I've come to terms with it, but growing up I was called "Kelly" by a high school boyfriend, and "Sam" by a college roommate.

4) I think pizza should be considered a food group.

5) My shoe collection rivals Imelda's.

6) I have tons of crafting ideas running around in my head but have the hardest time starting a project. It's like I need all of my ducks lined up in a row before I can do a thing (just like my Dad and just the opposite of my husband.) This is something I'd really like to change because sometimes I just can't get to it and a great idea goes to waste.

7) I know this probably sounds bad but a fave motto of mine is "More is never enough". I try not to apply it to everything in life (like eating although I'd like to: see #4 LOL) but I can't help myself when it comes to making cards. I'm addicted to embellies.

Okay, hopefully not TMI. Now on to #4. I'm gonna choose a mix of old and new friends and I hope they find it as fun as I did. I apologize if you've been tagged before or you think it's a pain but I've had a ball and I can't wait to get the dirt on you all. Hee Hee. This means you:
Lillie
Julie
Lana
Shelly
Barb
Mayflower
Margie

Now I'm off to give them the good news. Well, let's hope I can figure out rule #1 so I CAN let them know.
