Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge

I was really excited about this week's Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge, Celebrate Art, because Megan at Dilly Beans has just released some fabby quotes (this from the #365 Artist's Quotes)and also recently released a number of new digis Frida Kahlo digis (this one is #338 Say of the Dead Frida) whom I love dearly. I messed with the image a bit in order to have it fit properly on my ATC and colored it with Copics according to the Craft Us Crazy Color Inspiration Challenge below.

It's been one of those weeks. Tuesday I had a hair appt. "Huh?" you say. Didn't you have one LAST Tues? Uhh, well...I thought I did, but my wallet is as messy and disorganized as my craft room and the appt. card I pulled out last week was for (would you believe this?) LAST YEAR! I sat there for 15 minutes, the receptionist called and left a message for my stylist and I continued to sit there thinking that maybe she thought it was for 9:45 since last month it was. Finally I started digging through my wallet and found the right card. February 28th. Eiyiyi!

This week however I thought all was well until I sat in the chair after shampooing my color out and my roots were NEON red! Seriously! Apparantly she tried a new red color booster in my usual touch up color and it reacted with my light roots. REALLY REACTED! At first we thought it would calm down with a little blow drying but NOOOOO!!!!! So she put additional dark color on, I waited AGAIN for processing, but she didn't want to shampoo again so she just used a vinegar rinse. Well, the color was fine, but my scalp, OMG! Let's just say my part looked like I should have a hatchet sticking out of my head. So what's the point of all this rambling? Well, I'd started last week's Wicked Wednesday ATC before I left and intended to finish and post it when I returned home. However, I was so traumatized by my hair experience that I was forced to do some serious retail therapy (first purchase, a hat!) and by the time I got home the collection was closed. EEEEKKK!!!!! Well, I finished it anyway and here it is.

The little cat was a freebie from Dover publications. The grass is an MS punch. A bit of embossing with the Cuttlebug and a bit of bling. The sentiment is a Studio G dollar stamp. It just so happens that the Inky Impressions Challenge is Wish Me Luck so I'm entering it there. WooHoo!

Tiddly Inks End of Summer Card

div>It's Fabulous Inky Friday which means at The Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog we highlight cards we see using Tiddly Inks images throughout blogland as well as those from the Tiddly Inkers. We also announce the winner from the previous challenge so of course you wanna go see, don't you? Although it wasn't my team's turn to do the Goodbye Summer Challenge for Tiddly Tuesday, I couldn't help but do a Fall card. It's my favorite season.

I immediately thought of the sweet Colorful World, an older image that resides in the Tiddly Inks Basement. Remember, that's your spot for things you may not find in the new Tiddly Inks Shop. Many of the images in the basement are discounted as well. WooHoo! You can snag her for a mere $2.00! She's colored with Copics, and glossy Accents added to her brush, fussy cut, then popped on a Nesties Mega Oval.

The leaves were cut and embossed with a Cuttlebug die and folder. I used the trees from the huge Harmony at Home Mega Pack for the patterned paper by resizing and printing each in a different color, using my Printmaster Platinum Program, then cutting the leaves out of the tree tops. Brushed Corduroy Distress was used to bring out the embossing.

To add a little interest, I wound a fiber through the popped leaves. I kind of thought it gave a feeling of movement and allows me to enter it in The Ribbon Carousel Anything Goes Challenge this week. Some gold adhesive beads were added for a little shine. There's still plenty of time to enter our Goodbye Summer-Hello Fall challenge so I hope to see you there and wait until you see the fabulous inspiration from our Wow Ya Wednesday Guest Kate from The Kathryn Wheel. Seriously, art journaling at it's FINEST! And pop over to Christy's Blog and see the adorable new Little Miss Sunshine image, just released Tuesday. Happy Fourth Using the New Word Collage Cart

Okay, so I said I wouldn't be crafting. And I'm really not. I'm cleaning my craft room. Normally I wouldn't bother (LOL), but the door to my craft room is right across the hall from our guest room and although I'm inclined to just close the door, don't you secretly wonder, when you visit someone, WHAT exactly they could be hiding behind closed doors? (Unless it's a teenager's bedroom, of course), but really, aren't you curious? Oh, come on, fess up. There will be no secrets here, so while I'm organizing (meaning throwing crap in any box available to be shoved in a closet until they leave), I let my Cricut do some work cutting the Fourth of July Word Collage. It's a really simple one. I didn't even bother to open DS (OMG!). It did, however, take me about 10 minutes to figure out how to change the size of the cut using just the machine. LOL Isn't that pitiful? Seriously how embarrassing!

I did find that these cuts take awhile and it's best to turn down your pressure (to 3) and do a multi-cut, but I'm fairly pleased with the way it turned out. It's a bite to get off the mat, however, and for most of the insides of the letters I just didn't bother, especially because I intended to pop it. Now what? While visiting my friend Joy's blog, I saw her sweet vintage God Bless America card and was reminded of the silhouettes from A Child's Year. I loved the cuts she used so that's what I did too.

I glued strips of blue behind some of the words and popped the mat, then popped the kids on top, doodled a teeny bit, and stuck on a star and a few gems at the bottom. DONE! I'm entering this in the Craft Us Crazy Red, White and Blue (or Summertime) Challenge. But I'm not done shoveling this mess out or about a zillion other things so...later!
