New Challenge at Lacy Sunshine

The new challenge at Lacy Sunshine starts today with the theme of MONOCHROME.  We want to see tints and shades of one color with neutrals, skin and hair colors optional.  This gorgeous gal is Foxia Gembell Briar Whimsy. She's fussy cut and popped atop long ovals (both scalloped and regular) from Spellbinders with a fabulous flower from Joycrafts that sort of resembled a foxglove at her feet.

This beautiful gal is colored with Copics and Prismacolor pencils and I've used DPs from the DCWV Black Currant Paper stack which made it easy to follow the fab sketch from Sketch Saturday (flipped and offsetting the ovals a bit, but you get the idea.)

I think she may just be my fave of the fabulous Briar Whimsies available in the Lacy Sunshine Shoppe

I colored her totally (including skin and hair) in the few shades listed on the recipe card, but then found it fairly difficult to find DP's to match so there are a few more neutrals than I intended.  I'm still really thrilled with how she came out and I hope you love her as much as I do.  The rest of the Sunshine Girls have fabulous inspiration for you so be sure to visit the Challenge Blog to see what they've created.  Also, if you joined our last challenge and used a Lacy Sunshine stamp you are eligible to receive our Loyalty Program digi for free, so don't miss out.  We are also now allowing coloring only entries which will be judged separately so if you have colored an image but can't quite make it into a project in time for the challenge, you're still good to go.  So many ways to WIN! Please join us.

I'm entering this is the Sketch Saturday Week #360Allsorts Die Cuts (more than 2) challenge, Little Claire's Designs Mono Colours, Brown Sugar Layers Challenge, Craft for the Craig Wings, Outlawz Saturday Paper a la Mode ATG, the DL.Art May Linky Challenge, and the AIMPDC5 ATG

New Challenge at Lacy Sunshine

A new challenge starts today at Lacy Sunshine and it's a fun one.  It's called Topsy Turvy Mismatch and the idea is to take an image with one theme, and make it for something else.  For example, take a summer image and make it for winter, or a Christmas image and make it for Halloween.  Get the idea?  I've chosen the adorable Rosalind, one of the Melancholy Moppets from Lady Heather's Curiousities Collection, and made a Christmas card.

Here's a closeup of the adorable Rosalind.  I guess you'd call her a bit Steampunk with the clocks and gears (one of which I've turned into a peppermint candy) and the expression on her face hardly exudes enthusiasm for the most wonderful time of the year, so I thought she'd work well for the challenge. Besides, she was really, really, really fun to color.  Inside reads "It's Christmas time...AGAIN!"  Had to play up that clock reference, especially with that big Tim Holtz clock die hanging on there.  LOL

Here's the Lacy Sunshine Recipe Card with all the info.  Hopefully this is helpful to you for color combos.  My teamies have some fab creations so be sure to check out the Challenge Blog for more inspiration.  Can't wait to see what you create for this fun challenge.

I'm entering this in the Outlawz Friday Coloring Challenge ATG/Christmas Twist, Christmas Card Challenges ATG, The Glory of Christmas Use a a Digi Stamp, Crafty Hazelnut's April Patterned Paper Challenge, CHNC April Christmas Extra Challenge ATG as long as it's Christmas, Ladybug Crafts ATG, Crafts Galore Encore Make a Card, 613 Avenue Create ATG/Optional Humorous Sentiment.

Vintage, Shabby Chic, Steampunk at Lacy Sunshine

Our new Challenge starts today at Lacy Sunshine with the theme of Vintage, Shabby Chic or Steampunk.  Take your pick!  I was all set to do Steampunk when I came across the gorgeous Breena Garden Music Box Melancholy Moppet and I knew she'd be perfect!  I made  a vintage banner wall hanging using DP from K&Co, a lace die from Heartfelt Creations, ovals from Spellbinders and music notes from Cuttlebug.

Here's beautiful Breena all colored up with Copics with a bit of extra shading with a black Prismacolor pencil.  She's fussy cut and popped with foam.

And here's the Lacy Sunshine Recipe Card listing all the supplies and colors used.  I gotta say, this makes such a great reference for future coloring as well as this particular project.  Hope you find this helpful to you, as well.

Here's the dimensional shot.  You can also see the bit of distressing I've done to the DP on the banner and oval with the edge of my scissors.  Wasn't quite sure if the project is Vintage or Shabby Chic, but either way, it flies for the challenge.  LOL  Finishing touches were the roses on the music notes and crinkle seam binding bow and hanger.  There's a great variety this time on the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog so be sure to check out my teamies' fabulous creations.  Also, don't forget to check out the Loyalty Program digi you can get for free if you used a Lacy Sunshine image in the last challenge or may buy for 50% off for the duration of the challenge.  And for those of you who just like to color, we now have a colored image only category for our challenges.  WooHoo!  Can't wait to see what you create.

Butterfly Kisses and Springtime Wishes

A new challenge starts today at Lacy Sunshine.  The new theme is Butterfly Kisses and Springtime Wishes and I've recycled a gift bag.  The DT is using stamps from the adorable Flower Pot Pretties and I've chosen Tina Tulips, one of the first flowers of Spring.  She also just happens to be the Loyalty Program digi for thhis week, so if you used a Lacy Sunshine Stamp in the last challenge, you can email Audrey for free (see BLOG) or purchase her at a 50% discount for the duration of this challenge HERE.

Tina is colored with Copics and Prismacolor pencils.  I've been trying to take more time and add more depth and shadows to my coloring.  I hope it shows. LOL  She's fussy cut and popped and I've added a bit of reindeer moss to the bottom of the pot.

We also have a new Lacy Sunshine recipe cards that we'll be filling out for each projects listing our supplies and the colors we've used.  Hope you find that helpful.  Feel free to enlarge the card and copy and print it if you wish.

Here's the dimensional shot.  The DP I've used is from the DCWV Mariposa Stack.  I've fussy cut just around the wings of butterfly on the DP and bent them up to show the mat underneath and added additional butterflies fussy cut from one of the other papers in the stack.  I've also added die cuts on opposing corners from a Tim Holtz die and the For You sentiment from Die-versions.  Be sure to visit the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog  for fabulous inspiration from the team.  Can't wait to see what you create.

Lacy Sunshine Go Green

Time for a new challenge at Lacy Sunshine Blog and our theme this challenge is Go Green.  We want to see a loads of the color green on your card and what could be better with St Patrick's Day right around the corner, eh?  The adorable image is Woodland Wisp "Wispy".   I've used Dp's from K&Co and added some gold matting and accents to match the Irish flag.  there are shamrock stickers strewn about and I've modified some peel offs for my sentiment.  And check out that double double bow!  I'm digging my new Bow-it-All tool that I bought after losing my Bow (un)Easy.  I know it's here somewhere, but I never really did get the hang of that one.  LOL

I've fallen totally fallen in love with the new Briar Whimsys Collection at Lacy Sunshine.  They're such magical little creatures.  "Wispy" is colored with Copics. I just had to make her a little Irish lass with red hair. I've added some Stickles to her wings and a little ladybug sticker to her flower.  There are tiny adhesive beads at the ends of her antennae and some more shamrocks at her feet.  Please visit the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog to see more inspiration from my DT sisters and check out the latest Loyalty Program digi that participants who used a Lacy Sunshine image in the last challenge can get for free.  WooHoo!  and don't forget to scroll down to see if you were a winner from last week.

Lacy Sunshine a Passion for Fashion

If you are looking for my East Wind card, please click HERE.

A fun new challenge starts today on the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog with the theme of "A Passion for Fashion"  (Use a digi with a fancy dress or do a shopping theme.) WooHoo!  Right up my alley.  Tough choice for me, there are so many beauties from Lacy Sunshine, but I finally decided on Nicolosia Venice City Girl. I've made a twisted easel using variations on the Spellbinders Labels One die and my new fave Noor design Lacy Square die.

Nicolosia is colored with Copics in the traditional Mardi Gras colors of green purple and gold. She's fussy cut and popped for dimension and I've added some adhesive beds and gems to her necklace and mask.  I think she'd be stunning in other colors for a New Year's or Halloween Masquerade Ball as well, don't you?

Here's a side view of the twisted easel.  The mask die is also from Spellbinders which I've cut twice, trimmed and layered.  The sentiment is peel off stickers from Starform.  My DT sisters obviously enjoyed this challenge as much as I did, so be sure and visit the Challenge Blog and leave them some love.  You'll also see the winners from challenge 52, as well as the new Loyalty Program digi that those of you who entered the last challenge with a Lacy Sunshine image can get for free and those who did not, may purchase at 50% off for the duration of this challenge.  We also have a new "colored image only" category, so you may link up your unfinished, but hand colored, Lacy Sunshine images as well for a chance to win an image of your choice.

Lacy Sunshine Things With Wings

Our new Challenge at Lacy Sunshine is Things With Wings and the DT is using the gorgeous new Enchantresses for our projects.  I've chose the sweet Honeybee Enchantress.  Isn't she just precious?  I've made a large tag in non Valentine colors (in case I want to use it for something else).  The hearts are printed from the fabulous new Vintage Honeybee Collection digi paper from My Artistic Adventures.  I've added burlap ribbon, crocheted and paper flowers with button centers, some twine and a metal hive for embellies.

Honeybee is colored with Copics and pencils with yellow Liquid Pearls for the honey and Stardust Stickles on the bee's wings.   She's fussy cut and popped atop the layered hearts.

Here's the dimensional view.  I hope you can come join us for our Things With Wings Challenge, and those of you who used a Lacy Sunshine image in the last challenge, don't forget to email Audrey for your free Loyalty Program digi. Here's a closeup of the adorable Abigail.  She's colored with Copics and embellished with glitter foam hearts, a triple bow and Alpha beads. Lacy Sunshine Winter Bliss

The new challenge today at Lacy Sunshine is Winter Bliss.  I've created a Winter Wonderland using my new X Cut Build a Scene dies and the adorable Snow and Cat Enchantress.

I've colored this little beauty with Copics and added gems and Jolee's glitter snowflakes (which I've had in my stash FOREVER!).  She's fussy cut and popped for dimension.  Isn't she precious!?!  And just look at that KITTY!  SWEET!

Here's the dimensional shot.  I've actually only used 3 of the 5 dies that some with the set and chose to do them all in white, then embossed them with a snowfall Cuttlebug folder.  I've popped each layer with foam strips, added silver peel off borders and tiny stars to the sky as well as gorgeous beaded snowflakes.  I hope you like it as much as I do.  Be sure to visit the challenge blog to see the gorgeous inspiration from my teamies and come play along.  Remember, if you used a Lacy Sunshine stamp in the last challenge, you may have the new "Loyalty program" stamp for free.  Full details are on the Challenge Blog post.

Lacy Sunshine "Sparkly and New"

Our new challenge begins at Lacy Sunshine today with the theme of "Sparkly and New".  This could be New Year, new baby, new technique, well, pretty much anything new...and then add some sparkle.  I went with the obvious New Year using the beautiful Champagne Enchantress.   You can see all the fabulous Ethereal Enchantresses as well as the adorable new "Stitched Collection" HERE. I've made a shaped card using my Spellbinders Grand Ovals and Grand Decorative Ovals with the peel off sentiment popped and framed with Labels One and Scalloped Labels One.  2015 is die cut with the QuicKutz Haunted mini alphabet.

I've colored this beauty with Copics and a bit of a metallic Sharpie and added gold Stickles to the confetti and and gold beads to her tiara.  Although she's perfect for New Year's, I think she would be gorgeous for any celebration (like birthday or anniversary), don't you?  Be sure to check out the fabulous inspiration by my teamies HERE and see the gorgeous "loyalty program" digi you can get free for using a Lacy Sunshine image in our previous challenge.  It's also half price in the Shoppe for the duration of this challenge HERE (scroll down to get yours at this special price.  Also, new this year, we are allowing entries with colored images only (one per person) and will be choosing a winner among those entries as well).  No reason not to join in.  Can't wait to see what you create!

Lacy Sunshine Holiday Joy

A new challenge starts today on the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog and the theme is Holiday Joy. Any Winter Holiday works for this challenge, so whatever you celebrate, bring it on.  I made a Christmas Joy wall hanging using the adorable new Stardust Enchantress, only one of the many many new fabulous Ethereal Enchantresses flying into the Lacy Sunshine Shoppe  (scroll down to find yours!).  The base is cut with my Spellbinder's Grand Decorative Ovals with Spellbinders Nested Stars as accents.

Here's a closeup of this beauty.  She's colored in Copics and then covered with a Be Creative Tape Sheet and I've added tiny stars and silver beads to the image before sprinkling with Shell White Microfine Transparent Glitter. The glitter does mute the colors and lines somewhat so I used the fine tip of my Memento Dual marker to trace the lines and added a bit more shading to the image with my Copics.  The microfine glitter does not hurt the tips but I find, especially with the Memento pen, that you need to wipe the tip periodically to remove buildup to keep your line fine and avoid a clump of dark glitter ruining your image.

I think this pic better shows how sparkly she is and also my epic save.  LOL  I wasn't thinking before adding the glitter and her eyes were covered as well.  I should have either used Glossy Accents on them first and let it dry before adding the glitter, or fussy cut the eyes from another printed image and sticking them down so the glitter wouldn't cover them, because even with filling in the black pupils, I'd lost the fine detail and they didn't stand out as much as I'd like.  I tried covering them with Glossy Accents after the fact, but she ended up having sort of "Zombie Eyes".  Yikes!  Not what I was going for.  I finally reprinted her and fussy cut the eyes and adhered them over the scary ones and added Glossy Accents on top.  Phew!  Much better!

So here's the dimensional shot of the entire wall hanging.  I really enjoyed putting this all together.  Be sure to check out the Challenge Blog to see the fabulous holiday projects by the rest of the Sunshine Girls.  We can't wait to see what you create.  Also, just a reminder about our Loyalty Program.  If you used a Lacy Sunshine Stamp in the previous challenge you can get this week's Challenge stamp for free, or if you didn't, it's available in the Shoppe for a discount.  (See Blog for details, and don't forget to scroll down to see the winners from the last challenge.)

I'm adding thhis to the Unruly Paperarts 12 Days of Christmas Linky Party, the Simon Says Wednesday Christmas/Holidays Challenge, the Cheerful Stamp Pad Signs of Christmas, Dies R Us Winter Wonderland and the DLArt December Linky Party.

Lacy Sunshine North Pole Challenge

It's time for a new Challenge at Lacy Sunshine and the theme this fortnight is The North Pole.  Think winter, snow snowflakes, candy canes, use anything you might find at the North Pole and you're good to go.  And be sure to check out the Loyalty Program digi, free to those who used a Lacy Sunshine Stamp in the previous challenge or 50% off in the Lacy Sunshine Shoppe for the duration of this challenge.  I've used the adorable Candi Cane Ethereal Enchantress.  She's sitting on a snow bank embossed with Snowflake Cuttlebug folder with a stenciled icicle background.  I've use Spellbinders Grand Labels Four to frame the scene.

Candi is colored with Copics in shades of peppermint and spearmint.  At the end of her canes I've added candy and snowflake metal brads.  I had the best time with her gorgeous hair and looky, it's not RED for a change.  LOL  Candi Cane is just one of the fabulous new Ethereal Enchantresses available at the Shoppe, and many were custom made for Lacy Sunshine fans and drawn to exact specifications.  Check out the Lacy Sunshine FB Group page for deets on how to get your own.

Here's the dimensional shot.  Both the upper mat and Candi Cane herself have been popped with foam and I've added a glittered acetate snowflake and a bow from wired pom pom trim to one corner and punched photo corners and tiny buttons to the other three.

Lacy Sunshine Harvest/Thanksgiving Challenge

Our new challenge begins today at the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog and with the theme of Harvest/Thanksgiving.  Sweet Rory is one of my favorite Lacy Sunshine characters and this time I've used Rory's Giant Pumpkin.  I've made and easel card and dug down deep in my stash for harvest and Thanksgiving theme DP's, most of these (including the frames and "Blessings" sentiment) are from the Debbie Mumm for JoAnn Fabrics Harvest and Holiday Stack (circa 2008).  The antique Pumpkin Label is a Freebie from the Graphics Fairy and I've used a twig wreath die from Memory Box and leaves from "table confetti" that I've recycled.

I've colored Rory with Copics and fussy cut her to pop her on the printed frame. The added "grass" was cut with my MS icicles border die.

I've popped the frame and sentiment to capture the easel, some more leaves and some Card Candy for interest.  Please visit the Challenge Blog for more inspiration and remember, if you used a Lacy Sunshine image in the last challenge, you may email Audrey for the loyalty program freebie for this one.  Hope to see you there.  Also, We're so excited that Heather has created some amazing new characters, so be sure to check out the New section of the Lacy Sunshine Crafter's Candy Shoppe

New Lacy Sunshine Challenge - Include a Hat

It's time for another new challenge at Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog and our theme is Include a Hat. I love hats!  I collect hats.  I'm almost never without a hat if I'm outside for any length of time, as a necessity, 'cause I gotta say the red hair can get all kinds of nasty if you don't protect it from the sun. There are so many adorable digis, both girls and boys with fabulous hats, in the Lacy Sunshine Shoppe that I had a hard time choosing but finally decided on the sweet Constance Cherished Wings (The kitty clinched it) that's available in both digi, or, if you prefer, a clear stamp.  Did you even know Lacy Sunshine had clear stamps?  See the entire collection HERE.

Here's a close up of sweet Constance.  She's colored with Copics.  After I colored hair and kitty though, I was at a bit of a loss.  I really didn't have a plan for her, or even know what colors to use, but I remembered the fab party (still) going on on the Outlawz forum and checked out their Wednesday Sketch Challenge and voila!  Problem solved.  You know I rarely use sketches, they intimidate me, but this one was a particular goody so...  then the flower on her hat jogged my memory of the Graphic 45 French Country DP I've had forever and never used so there ya go.  The windows were cut with my Spellbinders.  Sparkly sunflower stickers are JoLee's.

Be sure to check out the rest of the fun hats chosen by my teamies on the Challenge Blog.  And don't forget our Loyalty Program.  If you used a Lacy Sunshine stamp in the previous challenge, you can get the featured "Challenge digi" for free.  We can't wait to see what you create.

I'm entering this in the Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge, TTRCD Oct 21-27 ATG, Fitztown Challenge ATG using Digital Elements and Simon Says Monday ATG.

Lacy Sunshine Halloween!

Our new Challenge at Lacy Sunshine is Halloween.  WooHoo!  There are fabulous new images at the Crafter's Candy Shoppe and I've chose one of the sweetest Ever!  Meet  Sugi's Hocus Pocus, one of Heather's newest characters. You can see more of her HERE. I know I usually go for the darker images, like Lady Heather's Curiousities or the Melancholy Moppets, but I gotta say I went head over heels for this adorable gal. So Audrey, our team coordinator, chuckled a bit when I said I was using her for the challenge and gave me a personal bit of a challenge to darken her up.

Not the easiest ever, but I went for the monotone Copic W's.  I just couldn't add blood, but I think she is a bit spookier this way, don't you?  I added a Jolee's Boutique pumpkin to the one in her hand, after darkening that up a bit with my Copics, too.  And although I don't usually go in for lots of stickers, I hit the mother lode at Michaels, at 50% off and nabbed the haunted house and sentiment stickers that matched my already colored image perfectly.  Cut a frame in the Dp I had already chosen with my Spellbinders Scalloped Labels One and popped the frame to allow for the dimensional house.  I gotta say I totally love the way it turned out.  My teamies have done an amazing job so be sure and visit the Challenge Blog for more inspiration.  There's also the exciting new Confectionary TV which you don't want to miss.  And if you haven't already subscribed to the Lacy Sunshine Magazine, there's still time to get the new holiday issue which will be debuting November 1st HERE (please scroll down). You may purchase single issues as well.

Lacy Sunshine Change of Seasons/Weather

Fall is definitely in the air...(finally) and I'm loving the beautiful weather.  At Lacy Sunshine our new Challenge is exactly that, Changing Seasons, or Weather but it doesn't have to be Fall.  Any season will do.  I love everything about Autumn, though and just had to use the adorable Rory Collecting Autumn Leaves.  Isn't she just the sweetest ever?  Instead of a card, I decided to alter one of the plain brown shopping bags that seem to collect in my closet.  Would make a lovely gift bag all dolled up like this, don'tcha think?

I've colored Rory with Copics in lovely Autumn colors and added a glitter sunflower sticker to her hat.  Rory was quite popular with the DT for this challenge so be sure to pop by the Challenge Blog to see her done in different colorways.  You can also see this week's Loyalty Program digi, Emily Windy Days,  which you can get FREE if you used a Lacy Sunshine image in last week's challenge, or if not, you can pick her up for half price for the duration of this challenge.

I've added many layers to my bag including a recycled bit from a mesh bag that some silverware came in, and the large sunflower at the bottom left was originally attached to an elastic ponytail holder.  I've popped some shaped pieces and a sentiment sticker that came from a Bo Bunny Ephemera pack I won from PunkYouGirl.  The twig wreath is a Memory Box die.  Now it's time for you to play along at Lacy Sunshine.  Can't wait to see what you create.

I'm entering this in the Simon Says Wednesday ATG Challenge, 613 Avenue Create ATG, Crazy 4 Challenges Leaves or a Leaf, Open Minded Crafting Fall/ Autumn, the Outlawz Paper a la Mode Add a Sentiment, Creative Fingers Add a Sentiment, Daring Cardmakers Autumnal Forest, Frosted Designs Fall Challenge, Scrapping Everyday Miracles Mini Crop Challenge #5, and If You Give a Crafter a Cookie challenge #2 Fall
