El Dia de Reyes Blog Hop

Welcome to the 3rd annual Dia de Reyes Blog Hop. If you've come from Esther's Blog, you're on the right track but if you've happened here by chance, go back to Gaby's Blog and you'll learn something about this happy day as celebrated in Latin cultures and why this day is so very special to her.  I hear there may be some prizes, too.  (Just sayin'.) My original plan this year was to use a traditional image of the 3 Wise Men but when I saw this hilarious image We Three Geese by Rick St Dennis, I just couldn't resist.   I printed them several times, colored them with Copics and fussy cut and layered them inside a window created with my Nesties Labels 4.  The star was cut with my Cricut from Very Merry Tags.

I blinged them up (they're Kings, after all) with all sorts of adhesive gems and added peel off corners to the embossed top mat.  Kinda wonder what's in that bottle.  Frankincense and myrrh?  (BTW, my hubby bought some of that stuff and if you ask me, it's overrated but probably beats the heck out of stable smell.  LOL)  OOps, I digress.

I hope you find the sentiment humorous and not offensive.  Again, I couldn't resist.  I also hope my Spanish speaking viewers understand it.  Se dice "Toque la bocina si amas a Jesus". (Sorry I can't add the accent with my keyboard.) So off you go to Patty's Blog to see what wonderful project she has in store and in case you get lost, here's the entire blog line up.  Enjoy!

Dia de Reyes Blog Hop

Welcome to the second annual Dia de Reyes Blog Hop. If you've come from Gaby's Blog, you're on the right track and you've learned something about this happy day as celebrated in Latin cultures and why this day is so very special to her. Last year my project reflected the more traditional and religious aspect (see it HERE) but I decided to be a bit more whimsical today. Forget Santa, Latin children anticipate this day with great excitement as it is the day they receive their gifts from Los Reyes Magos, as the Baby Jesus did. They put their shoes by the window or under their beds and wake up to find them filled with gifts. My camel is indeed bearing gifts and is also rockin' the shoe aspect here. LOL

I've welded some high heels from Forever Young to the camel from Animal Kingdom. The shadow base (at 7") was cut from chipboard with both sides covered in red. I cut the regular camel twice (well, actually 4 times since it can be viewed from either side) and trimmed the legs on one and popped it to give it added dimension. They were glued to a small box that can bear gifts. The saddle is cut with Nesties Labels Eleven and trimmed to fit with a rosette that says "Joy" from K&Co. And the shoes...did you notice the red soles? This is one stylin' camel.

And she obviously knows where to shop!

Looks like some little girl is going to be very VERY happy! Children who have been good all year (and big girls too) write letters to their favorite King hoping that their wishes will come true.

I've been a very good girl so... Gaspar Baby, hurry to my window tonight! Now off you go to Esther's Blog but don't forget to leave a comment before you go. And if you get lost, here's the complete line-up...Enjoy!

Dia de Reyes Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Dia de Reyes Blog Hop. If you've come from Madison's Blog you are on the right track. If not, you'll want to hop over to Gaby's Blog to read about this wonderful holiday tradition and find out the details for winning the fabulous prizes she has to offer. I used the Cricut Cartridge Christmas Village for my Reyes Magos card. Because they are meant to be standing figures, I designed the card in Design Studio and used a rectangle from George to cut the figures off where I wanted. To save paper I also positioned the cuts off the mat which in the case of the King leading the camel confused DS enough that I not only had to turn off my Cricut and close the file after cutting it, I also had to close the entire DS program and restart it to continue. Each King was cut twice, and assembled with the gold foil card stock slightly offset to approximate a shadow Fortunately it all worked out in the end.

"We Three Kings" is from the Winter Frolic cartridge which fortunately does have an accompanying shadow. Because the Kings are just silhouettes, I used adhesive gems to bring out some details. The background card stock is from the DCWV Luxury Stack and the Kings themselves are matte metallic from Recollections. The gold border is a peel off.

Each King is popped from his shadow and then popped from the next for dimension. the sentiment is popped as well and adds a bit more drama to a pretty simple card.

The rest are the pictures of my Reyes Magos that spend the Christmas Season on the table in my entryway. In Latin countries the Kings are not added to the Nativity until the evening of January 5th but my dudes always jump the gun 'cause I love them so much! LOL
Now hopefully you have been visiting all the blogs in order and are collecting the magic words to complete the sentence for the prize and don't forget to leave comments along the way.
My word is OUTSIDE.
Now hop along to Martha's Blog and enjoy the wonderful festivities. But if you're lost, Click HERE to find your way. Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy!
