Back to School with Lacy Sunshine

It's time for a new challenge at Lacy Sunshine and the theme is Back to School.  Where has the summer gone, eh?  There are lots of adorable Back to School stamps at the Lacy Sunshine Shoppe, but Eleanor and Pickles caught my eye.  It was the backpack.  You see, 4 years ago I made a similar backpack for one of my BFF's daughter because she was starting high school and on Wednesday, she, her Mom and I are flying to CO to take her to U of CO Boulder.  OMG!!!!  COLLEGE!  I can't believe it.  (BTW, This is the girl who invented the word "boofy", meaning beautiful, at age 3, and you all know we still use it today.  sniff sniff)  So I thought it would be fun to make her a new backpack and card.   It'll be fun to see if Hayley remembers the first one.

I made the backpack from a tutorial from way back by my dear friend DeeDee. I still had some of the cute apple DP (do you believe that!?) and dragged out my Cricut to cut the apple from the Create a Critter cartridge.  I sized Eleanor and Pickles to fit the opening and colored according to the scheme of the paper.  I also printed the image twice more, once for the card, and again to fussy cut Pickles to peek out the side.  See him up there?  I Hayley's name in Alpha Beads, just like the first one.

Here's the side view.  It has straps and everything,  Isn't it cute?

The card is simple, as I wanted the image to take center stage.  They're colored with Copics, fussy cut and popped a top an oval cut with Spellbinders. Instead of "Back to School", it says "Off You GO".  We still can't believe it...COLLEGE!

There is tons of inspiration by the rest of the Sunshine Girls, so be sure to stop by the Challenge Blog and for a real treat.  We sure hope you join us for our Back to School Challenge.

Simply Steampunk Showcase Featuring Monster Mr. Roberts

I'm so excited to showcase the fabulous Monster Mr. Roberts from the Steampunk A Roberts Halloween range on the Simply Steampunk Challenge Blog.   It's so hard to find images for mature male projects and I think he's just perfect!
This gift bag started out as a wine bag.  I loved the dark castle image but didn't want the bottom 3rd so I cut it apart and glued it back together.  Better size anyway, as far as I'm concerned.

I printed the image on kraft paper and colored him with Copics.  The gravesones are a combination of punches and dies, also out of kraft and distressed.

The sentiment is from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells.  Perfect, don'tcha think?  This was a fun one and can't wait to fill it with creepy goodies.  Be sure to visit Simply Steampunk Challenges.  We have additional inspiration all month long and our current Layers Challenge runs through Oct 3rd.  Hope to see you there.

Dilly Beans Think Pink

Our Friday Challenge this week at Dilly Beans is Think Pink.  I've recently acquired  a whole bunch of Dylusions Sprays and have had a ball with them.  I created the background here with Bubblegum and the White using part of a mesh potato bag as a mask for texture.  Love how it came out.  The adorable stamp is #348 Amalia's Daisy.  I printed her twice, colored her with Copic and fussy cut the flower to emboss and pop.  The sentiment is from the #367 Friendship collection.  Simple but cute, don'tcha think?  With all the pink lovers in Blog land we expect a record number of entries.  LOL  Be sure to check out the fab inspiration from my teamies HERE.

I'm also entering this in the Whimsy Stamps Pretty in Pink Challenge, Crafty Sentiments Monochromatic Challenge, The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Make your Own Background Paper, Tuesday Throwdowns Make Your Own Background, Simon Says Stamp and Show Color Challenge, Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes.

Dilly Beans PURPLE!

TGIF!!!  Yea, for sure.  It's another fun challenge at Dilly Beans Challenge Blog and this week it's the color purple.  I've become quite fond of that color and started singing about the flying purple people eater in my head so I added Nestie wings to Megan's cute #390 Dilly Monster and off she flew over #391 Heart Flowers.
The sentiment and heart flowers were printed right on the mat which was distresed with Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord, then I printed the flowers again to pop.  I wish I cold have done a video for this, because the little monster truly is a flutter on an action wobble and she looks so cute flitting about that she makes me giggle.  There are stunning purple creations from the DT so be cute to check them out, and don't forget today is the LAST DAY for the buy 10 get 10 free sale at the Dilly Beans Store.

I'm also entering this in the 4 Crafty Chicks Monochromatic Challenge, the Crop Stop Monochromatic Challenge, DRS Designs Flying FriendsLia's Stamps Things with Wings, Whimsy Stamps things with Wings, and the Southern Girls Things with Wings as well.   Finally, I'm adding to Simon Says Stamp Diamond Jubilee, Crown and/or Gems challenge.  Her crown certainly looks like a gem to me and of course it's all royal purple,  Finally, do pearls qualify?  I say yes!

A Day for Daisies Vintage and Add Polka Dots

I'm just under the wire for the current A Day for Daisies Challenge which is Vintage plus Dots. I've paper pieced the lovely Scent of a Vintage Rose and colored the rest with Copics.  The dotty papers are from my stash.  I've been saving this gorgeous lace for something special and I love how it echos the rose in her hand.  To me it just screams Vintage.  She's mounted on a Nesties Lacy Circle and I've added picot edge ribbon as well.  I really love how it turned out.  Hope you do too.

I'm also entering this in The City Crafter A Rose is a Rose Challenge, The Sisterhood of Crafters Good Old Days Challenge and the Whimsy Stamps Vintage and Shabby Chic Challenge.
