Dilly Beans Flowers Challenge

The weather is spectacular here and of course that's bringing out all kinds of flowers.  Fitting Challenge for Dilly Beans this week.  I chose these fabulous funky ones #550 Doodle Flowers Framed to make a CAS card using my Printmaster Platinum program to crop and color each piece digitally and add the text at the bottom of the frame.  Then I just cut it out and mounted it over the embossed front et voila!  I really love how it came out and plan to do a whole set of note cards wth different colors and sentiments.  My talented teamies have all sorts of fab flowers to show you so pop on by the Dilly Beans Challenge Blog and have a look.  I'm sure you'll want to play along.

Dilly Beans Thankful Challenge

'Tis the season we reflect on the things we are thankful for and at Dilly Beans it is no different.  Our challenge this week is Thanks.  I've used the sweet Mimi & Sara's Pumpkins Framed.  My original plan was to pop the pumpkins but I liked the way the coloring came out so much on this version, I just left it flat.  I've been adding a bit of texture to the hair after coloring with Copics using my sadly neglected Prismacolor pencils and kinda loving that too.  The image is mounted on a Nesties Labels One embossed with the Tim Holtz Burlap folder and sanded.  The sentiment is a combo of 2 ancient rub ons from my stash.  The leaves were punched and hand scored and I made my cute little acorns from card candy.  I'm finally practicing a bit with liquid pearls instead of my adhesive beads, but every time I squeeze, I hold my breath. Haunted Design House Nosferatu Ad nauseum

Well, today I'm doing the mid week inspiration ( 'cause I obviously couldn't get my act together this past weekend) post for Haunted Design House and the theme is Nosferatu Ad nauseum  (Vampires, lots and lots of VAMPIRES).  WooHoo!

Rick has so many fab vamps in his collection that I had a hard time choosing but then I fell in love with the handsome and irresistible Baron Blood. (I think it was the earring.  I just wanna nibble nibble ear, don't you?) 

I lovingly colored him with a mix of Copics and Prisma Pencils but then made the fatal error of deciding he needed to sparkle.  Out came the Stickles which masked the ab fab job I'd done on his hair.  Now he sorta looks like he just stepped out of the shower (do Vamps shower or do they rely on their natural musky scent to seduce?) which ain't a bad thought either but...  P.S., note the earring, it's a real one and BTW, there is a sparkle in his eye too, but it's not showing up in the pic. 

 As you can see, he be 3D.  Again, a labor of LOVE!  xx

 

The cool vampire bat is another of Rick's that I'd won last year while participating in the 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop over at Smeared Ink (going on now, and you can still win daily prizes) but you can find him HERE in the shop.

Pretty simple card but it wouldn't be complete without a liberal dose of Drippy Goo.  The sentiment is in Alpha Beads, perhaps not the best font but it's the only one they come in and the scale was right and how about them chompers?  Oh yeah, BITE ME and drain me dry, you Bad Boy!

The Winner, a New Challenge and a Freebie (for a limited time)

Happy Tuesday!  How do you like this little guy?  Isn't he the sweetest EVER?  Well, for a very limited time you can get Alex and his Teddy Bear absolutely FREE just for visiting the Papelitos Challenge Blog.  I couldn't resist coloring him up immediately and here's the result.  The Adage Tickets are Tim Holtz and the sentiment is computer generated on a TH journaling Ticket.  When you find someone you love this much, I don't think you should ever let go.

After coloring with Copics, I used a Glue Marker to add some flocking to the bear.  Love the warm fuzzies.  It wasn't as even as using my Xyron, but I actually preferred this result and even scratched a bit more of it off so it looked like he's been loved A LOT!  So if you love this image as much as I do, hurry to Papelitos and nab him before he's GONE and while you're there, check out the new Happy Birthday/Celebrations tandem Challenge with Paper Crafting Journey.  Be sure to link up to both challenges to be eligible for a prize.

Dilly Beans Seeing Red

Well, I'm finally back in business after our relaxing spa visit. The new challenge at The Dilly Beans Designers and Challenge Blog is Seeing Red. It's no secret that red is my FAVORITE color, but this also posed a bit of a problem as many of my Copic reds are running pretty dry. I had already chosen one of Megan's new images, Frida's Roses and decided to paper piece nearly the entire design using old retired Stampin' Up DP I've had for at least 3 years. The only parts of the design that are colored are the eyes, lips and leaves, with a bit of chalk blush on her face.



I printed the image twice in white for the background and leaves, once in cream for the face, once in polka dot for the hair, and twice for the stripes and layered roses which I popped for dimension. The bolder lines on this image is quite forgiving, but the real secret to "seamless" paper piecing is to go around all of the edges of the cuts with black marker so the white cut rim doesn't show. I used the side of the brush tip of a Memento Dual Marker because it doesn't bleed into your paper like a Copic can. It was a bit time consuming but I really love how it came out. Blue Christmas

Don't ask. No, I'm no further along with ANYTHING I actually HAVE to do. DH wanted to go to Carmel yesterday so I ditched my decorating and DT card plans and off we went. Even with crap weather it's a magical town.

This card, however, has been in my mind for quite awhile, and oops, yes, it's another KennyK (can't help it, I LOVE them and I sure had good luck last time). This image is Devilish Donna (wonder why she's my FAVE, LOL) with a little Santa hat from Xmas Accessories. She's colored with Copics with some added shimmer from Spica pens with some Stickles on her hat for good measure. The card stock is some shimmery Bazzil with a glitter paper mat and the pine boughs and snowflakes are MS punches. With the added gems, pearls and yummy ribbon, I think this will definitely qualify for the Digital Tuesday Sparkling Christmas (plus digi) Challenge as well as the Copic Creations challenge which is also Sparkle, don't you? I'm also entering it in the Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge Show Us Some Snow. (Tell me this challenge blog isn't right up my alley. LOL)

See her little tear? I've been listening to Christmas music and "Blue Christmas" really gets to me. In fact, nearly all Christmas songs make me tear up, not just the sad ones. What's up with that? Does anyone else get highly emotional during the holidays? So as you can imagine, this card is inspired by that song and fits in with the Sentimental Sundays Inspired by a Song Challenge.

Of course the sentiment should come as no surprise. Hope it's okay for the challenge that's it's on the inside. Just couldn't make it fit on the front. And I decorated it, no less. Quite the labor of love. I sure hope you all are with your loved ones this Christmas, but if anybody is missing anybody out there, this card's for you. xx
