Hoppy Easter

Although I didn't use Celebrate with a Flourish for my BBTB2 project this week, I did check out alot of the beautiful cuts and couldn't resist doing an Easter card using the sweet bunny and Easter sentiment. I started with an egg shaped card welded in Design Studio using Easter 2010. Then I just cut the layers. Added a bit of texture to the grass layer with Swiss Dots and cut that layer an additional time so I could pop the flowers. I'm thinkin' the Swiss Dots and the striped Egg will qualify for Papertake Weekly's Challenge which is Spots and Stripes. I glittered the bunny but running him through my Xyron face down to match the glittered striped in the DP on the egg. I'm hoping that's enough sparkle to enter this into the ABC Challenge "S" is for Sparkle. You know, some people complain that the adhesive from the Xyron either leaves sort of excess adhesive over the small cut out or leaves gaps on the die cut which isn't that big a deal for just gluing, but if you're glittering or flocking it's a prob. This won't happen if you use a stylis to trace around all of the cut edges (especially the small openings in letters and such) and then really rub the clear side to make sure it comes in contact with the adhesive to help pull it cleanly away and also helps the adhesive adhere firmly to the die cut. It takes a few more minutes, but really makes a difference.

You know I love the layers, and even more if they're popped, so of course, that's what I did. I'm not sure this is what the gals at Cupcake Craft Challenges had in mind but they gave us a pretty wide berth so I'm entering this in their Lots of Layers challenge as well. And speaking of POPPED layers, I'd sure love it if you'd visit Do More With Less and check out my Guest Designer tut and come join my challenge. Yvonne's Blog is packed with super inspiration and I'm giving away a great prize.

The inside sentiment is also from Celebrate with a Flourish. I added a few adhesive pearls to enhance it. Some were colored with my Copics to match. Obviously this is an Easter card so I'm entering it in the Sparkles Forum Challenge which is Easter and also the Whimsical Wednesdays April Showers Bring May Flowers Challenge. See the flowers, Steph? I'll try to do better next time, but I didn't want to miss it. LOL

Bah!Humbug! Cards That Make You Giggle Challenge

Is this really Tuesday? Yikes, I almost don't know what to do with myself. The Cuttlebug Spot is on break and it's not my week for the Tiddly Inks Tuesday challenge (but you've got to go there to see what's up!) and the weather has been gorgeous and I had my MM and BBTB2 done a bit early so Sunday and Monday I didn't craft. EIYIYI! Now what? Well, the Bah!Humbug! Challenge is Cards that Make You Giggle and as soon as I saw it I KNEW what I was gonna do. In fact, I bought this Getting Stuck image (BTW there's a girl image too) at Sassy Cheryl's just HOPING there would be a challenge like this from Humbug Hall. "A Christmas Story" is my all time fave Christmas movie. I'm wondering if you ladies across the pond are familiar. Anyway, Flick being "double dog dared"( or was it triple dared?) to lick the post is one of the funniest scenes and here it is in digi. Hope you find the sentiment amusing. And for once I've finished early enough that if you haven't already, you can still participate over at Bah!Humbug! It's even a prize week! WooHoo! And the inspiration cards are a hoot so be sure and stop by. I'm also entering this is in Cupcake Craft Challenges which is Comedy Rocks.

Two with Tiddly!

Father's Day is really a tough time for me. I will always be a Daddy's Girl but I lost him 5 years ago to Alzheimer's. When I saw this adorable image at Tiddly Inks (called apppropriately "Daddy's Girl") I HAD to have her. I think I cried the whole time I was making this card but I really love how it turned out. (I'm not doing that good a job holding back the tears while typing either so if I'm messing up, sorry.)

After cutting her out with my Nesties I finally decided on an easel card so the sentiment will always be visible. The papers are from Miss Elizabeth's and unfortunately I don't know who did the plaid, which I picked out first, as it inspired the entire color scheme.

The letters for Daddy are stamped with an old set from Stamp Craft and cut out. She's done with a combo of paper piecing and coloring with my Copics, with the hat, tie and shoes colored again and popped.

The sentiment is computer generated and is how I will always feel. I love you Daddy and miss you very much! This is my second entry in the Cards for Men Father's Day Challenge, my first for the One for the Boys Cupcake Crafts Challenge, and it's been way too long since I've entered a challenge at A Crafty Little Place, #34 also One for the Boys.

On a lighter note, on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog this week the challenge is Bleep, Bleep Boys and Their Robots. I got both the adorable images FREE from the Tiddly Inks PCP Group. WooHoo! Roboto came already colored in the freebie but he is available for purchase uncolored along with tons more adorable robots and other cute boy stuff Here. The free pressie was not colored so I printed it a couple of times and used my Papertrey Ink Distressed Stripes Clear Stamps I got from my dear friend Leah for my birthday to do the wrapping and then colored and cut and popped the bow. I love the fact that you can resize digis so I made the present large enough to turn into a shaped card and then just folded some cardstock, traced around the image with a bit of a shadow, and hand cut it with scissors. The little paper clip letters came from JoAnn's. The letters seemed to easily be popped off the clips (I found this out quite by accident, LOL) so I glued the o and r under the f on the first clip with glossy accents. I thought the square letters tied in perfectly.
The entire present was popped on the card base as was the ribbon on top of the colored pressie. Roboto was popped a bit higher and his shoes and one of the balloons were cut out and popped as well. LOVE that dimension! I love these challenges so much! If you've never worked with digis before and are unfamiliar with Tiddly Inks, this is a perfect challenge to get your feet wet since the images are available FREE for this one just by joining the Tiddly Inks PCP group. In fact every Tues there's something FREE being offered there so what are you waiting for?

Die Cuts R Us and Cupcake Crafts Challenge

This week at Die Cuts R Us it's a color challenge of chocolate brown, teal, and white or cream. We also were to stamp and color it using our favorite coloring medium. I missed last week so I was anxious to play along. I'm not much of a stamper but I had a Tim Holtz stamp that I had purchased last year right after Christmas and I thought it would look great with the colored paper I found. There wasn't alot to color however so I played around with some Distress Inks for a background (hope that counts) I also added some Perfect Pearls to add an iridescence that matched the patterned paper.
The snowflake frame is new from Spellbinders which I inked and added tiny snowflakes from the background paper. I embellished with cool fibers, beautiful ribbon, a clear glitter die cut snowflake and a vintage bell.
Cupcake Craft Challenges is celebrating their 1st birthday with a fabulous blog hop and a challenge to use something sweet on your card with an optional cupcake. How fortunate I received my giveaway prize from Die Cuts R Us of a Just Right stamp set with a cupcake center and alphabet so I could customize the sentiment just in time for this challenge. I colored the image with Copics, added stickles, and cut the frames with my Nesties.
I popped the layers and added punched corners and gems and some organdy ribbon and trim. I was so excited to participate in this challenge since I've been watching them since my dear frend Caryn became a DT member. Finally I finished my own DT obligations in time. Happy Birthday Cupcake Crafts Challenges!
