Showcasing the New Lucy Loo 'Cat on the Head

Today I'm showcasing the newest digi from The East Wind called Lucy Loo 'Cat on the Head' over on The East Wind Show Room.  Gotta say she cracks me up, so I thought she'd be a great reminder of the "Just for a Laugh" FB contest going on now through August 17th.  Since it was all about the hair, I used bobby pin DP from the DCWV All About Girls mat stack and framed her with my Spellbinders Labels Twenty Eight.  My BFF Lisa helped me come up the the sentiment and I couldn't resist adding a mousey border done with my MS punch.

Lucy Loo was so much fun to color with my Copics and I just can't stop giggling about that cat on her head.  You can always count on Lucy Loo to inspire a humorous sentiment with that attitude of hers (or in this case, should I say "catitude"?  LOL)  Come on, join our FB contest and make us laugh!
I'm entering this in the Going Grey with Scrap-Creations Animals Challenge, 2 Cute Ink Animals,  Through the Purple Haze ATG/Femme Fatale Twist, Fan-Tastic Tuesday ATG and SOSS "Z" is for Zoo (or any other animal or animal print, man, those chicks are easy).  Hope to make one with an actual Zoo animal but might not make it due to a crazy couple of weeks, but I thought you might get a kick out of this.xxx

Another One Layer

Don't faint!  It's another CAS one layer card from me.  Yeah, I know, who am I and what have I done with Donna, eh?  Well, besides the SOSS, I was hanging out with the Outlawz and their Sunday CAS challenge this week is watermelons.  Ummm...ok.  Well, it just so happens I have the most adorable image from A Day for Daisies called A Big Slice, so I just had to sneak this one in too, in between my exhaustive (but totally worth it) efforts I'll be posting tomorrow.  Same cheapy CS, but this one I managed to color...with PENCILS!  I have to admit this isn't the suckiest job I've ever done with pencils and there's no bleed through, even after blending (sort of) with Mineral spirits.  WooHoo!

I am actually gonna enter this also at the SOSS "L" is for Layer Challenge even though it isn't snarky.  They keep reminding me it doesn't HAVE to be snarky, (but really, what's the fun in that?  LOL)  But if you look at the sentiment and the bite out of the bottom of that card and look at the kid doing the biting, it would be more likely at his age to be gumming it to death.  Perhaps not snarky, but at least worth a chuckle.  (And look Donna, I managed to snap the pic before Edna had a chance to card or photo bomb it.)

"L" is for Layer at SOSS

Ok, so I read the "L" is for Layer at Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers and think "WOOHOO!  Do I know how to layer!" but uh...no, not layerS, LAYER, meaning ONE (or if you must, because you are worried about f'ing up your card base, 2 at the MOST).   In other words CAS, not my strong suit.

However, if Edna (my Mom's name, which totally cracks me up, however she does look more like my Auntie Lee) can go flat, so can I.  So above you see my one layer card, done in Printmaster Platinum, using eyeglasses from The Graphics Fairy, that went perfectly with the sentiment I saw somewhere on the net and wrote down because I'm sure in a few years that will be me, and also because they look a bit like Edna's.  WOW!  How's that for a run on sentence?  I'm in rare form today, eh? Well, Edna snuck on the corner of my card (my Mom was pushy like that too) but was really pissed when I left her colorless (but Copics would have bled through my CS 'cause I use the cheap stuff).

Visit Sister Lee (aka Violent Kitty) to grab your own Flat Edna.  Mine insisted on some color and posing with the card.  (See, I told you, PUSHY!)  In case you're trying to read it on one of those itty bitty smart phones it says:"God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference."  AMEN!

Since coloring took up the better part of my morning, I skipped my walk, so Edna, always the taskmaster, put me through my paces in the exercise room.  First the elliptical trainer.

 

Then chest, back and shoulders on the weight stack.

And finally, dumbells for biceps and triceps.

 

Phew!  Time for some liquid refreshment.  Red or white?

Red it is!  Tah!

Professor Loo from The East Wind

This is for all my friends who teach.  Admirable job.  Couldn't do it myself.  So this latest make from the new release from The East Wind, Lucy Loo 'Professor Loo' is dedicated to you.  I used the png transparent background again to  merge her with the blackboard (retired from Tiddly Inks) then fussy cut around her skirt to add it to the background that was embossed at the bottom with the Tim Holtz Bricked folder.

Here she is!  I've been practicing my coloring and had so much fun with brown hair (for a change) and the folds of her top.  The East Wind artist Unky has done her first video on coloring hazel eyes (watch it HERE) and I even tried that, although it's hard to see on such a small scale, and added Glossy Accents to her glasses and lips.

AND, because I so wanted to enter the current Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers "B" is for Brads or Buttons Challenge,  I risked my HOURS of coloring to punch a hole in Lucy's badge and add my VERY LAST little skully brad to her jacket and a couple more to the corner of the card.  See ladies, ya know I luv ya!  (I'll take the one on the left.)

Even think my computer generated sentiment has just the right amount of snark.  Do kids actually speak to each other any more?  Or hand write ANYTHING?  Don't get me started on this.  As if teaching kids isn't hard enough...shudder!

Exciting News!

Although it's been a totally sucky day for NCAA Tournament basketball (my alma mater MSU AND rival U of M BOTH lost today), I managed to finish a card because I'm totally thrilled to have been invited to be a part of The East Wind Design Team. WOOHOO! I fell in love with Kyra's (AKA Unky's) stamps and you will too.  We have a fab Challenge Blog, an active FB Group and fun challenges on both sites.  Our current FB Group Challenge is Magical Creatures (which runs through April 17th) inspired my card today as well as several other challenges where I play regularly.

 

The fabulous image is Lucy Loo Arabian Nights, colored with Copics (yeah, yeah, I know, red hair, LOL) and fussy cut atop a gorgeous embossed panel sent to me by my dear friend Carole, because it is from a discontinued Marianne folder.  I've been saving these embossings for a special project and THIS it IT!  Thanks so much, Carole!

 

Here's the card closed.  I spent the entire day yesterday figuring out this fold for the current Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers "F" is for (fortunately not for what came out of my mouth watching basketball all afternoon) Fancy Fold.  Used my Spellbinders Gothic Arches to make it happen.  Obviously, the sentiment was inspired by their challenge, as well.  In case you can't read it, it says "To be perfectly honest, you really rub me the WRONG way". Although it's not required, I LOVE the opportunity to do SNARK.  (Especially TODAY!)  The blue scrolly stuff is cut with my Cuttlebug  Moroccan something (don't even THINK of asking me to look that up) set.  The color scheme of Blue, Purple, and Turquoise was inspired by the current challenge at 613 Avenue Create.  Although they are an ATG Challenge Blog, they always have the most creative optional twists and this one was no exception.  Always love playing there.  So there ya go.  Back to drowning my sorrows.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers U is for Unused

Started this a few days ago for the current Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers "U" is for Unused Challenge. 

I LOVE this chick!

Turned out to be kinda timely, as I'm supposed to be avoiding stress.  LOL  Had the sentiment first and thought I remembered an old digi that I had never used of a yoga chick but as it turned out, I either only thought I had it or it's disappeared into some nether regions of my computer.  Found this THIS ONE from ArtandScrap on Etsy and she filled the bill nicely, but now what is unused?  Dug in my drawer of $1.00 Clear stamps that I'd buy years ago because they were cheap but never EVER used and found this dragonfly.  Why is it that I've always associated dragonflies with yoga?  I don't even DO yoga.  Well, whatever...  Anyway, for those who are viewing this on some teeny little mobile device, the sentiment reads "I may look calm, but I've killed you in my head three times."  Going to lie down and relax now.  Namaste
