Celebrate America

In this card the paper did most of the work. I used scraps from the DCWV Summer glitter stack again. The cupcake is from Doodlecharms, the frosting is white glitterstock cuttled with the divine swirls folder. I ran the bottom through my paper crimper. I stuck a flag pick on top and used real sprinkles (which I don't recommend since the colors have a tendency to run). America is cut from Beyond Birthdays and stickled. I lined the inside with patriotic note paper I had in my stash, and the happy (and th) is from Walk in my Garden and the 4 from Celebrations. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I found that this card was a highlighted thread in the Cricut Chirp Newsletter. (My First!)

July 4th Reminder

We host a party on July 4th every year so I never sent out invitations but I couldn't resist sending out reminders. This was another opportunity to try a different card style, a double slider. The cute little elephant is from Zooballoo, his hat from Paper Doll Dress Up banded in ribbon. He's holding a party pic flag and his trunk is tied with a "Don't forget" bow. The paper is from the DCWV summer glitter stack.

Let's do lunch

Don't you just love creative card folds? They add so much to a design. This is my first attempt at a double pocket card. Again I relied on my fave Walk in my Garden for the flower, caterpillar and words on the tags. I had to cut and paste the "let's do lunch" but I liked the font. The "hi there" was from Beyond Birthdays, the tags and leaf from Plantin Schoolbook. I added texture with my Cuttlebug and used mini pompons for the flower center. Finally I added ribbon, flower eyelets, and adorable garden brads from Queen and Co. for embellishment. I loved the way this turned out.

The Cat's Pajamas

My BFF surprised me with the cutest pair of jammie bottoms "just because". They had adorable kitties on vacation on them. I had to make her a special thank you so this is what I came up with. I welded pants from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge to make this shaped card. I used Doodlecharms to make the little suns, kitty heads and palm trees which was as close as I could get to the darling pattern on the jammies. I had to include the leopard print slippers because she had given those for my birthday. (I told you I had chronically cold feet! Two of my best friends gave me slippers for my birthday, furry leopard ones like these, and some adorable pink knit elf booties. What they don't know is I wear them both together, even in the summer. Now that's COLD!) I cut a "thanks" from Walk in my Garden and strung it through the ribbon drawstring and added a little button fly. I just didn't have it in me to cut more of those little kitties so I left the back plain but did add that cute stamp I found at Michael's. Since I cut the body out of flesh colored cardstock the inside looked rather, well, naked so I added some panties. Since I'm not in the habit of showing my undies in public you'll just have to trust me on that.

Father's Day

Okay, so you can see how much I was lovin' these pop-ups. I made this for my kitties to give to their daddy for Father's Day. Back in June Paper Pups was the only cartridge I owned that had any kitty images on it so I went with what I had and just cut the dogs out of the picture. I used more of the great cardstock from the DCWV Pet Matstack. The words "You're Purrfect Daddy" were welded from Plantin Schoolbook with design studio.

You Did It!

Here's my first Pop-up card. I found the tutorial on UTube. I made this as an 8th grade graduation card but it would be great for any accomplishment. It folds flat so it can be put in an envelope. This was the first time I used the Beyond Birthdays cart. The tag pocket on the back was for a gift card. I loved the bright colors I used and all of the little Favorite Findings stars. It's not very easy to impress a teenage boy, but when he opened it he said "Whoa!" That made my day.

Flower Aperture

This card was inspired by my Cricut message board friend JulieH. The flowers and leaves from Accent Essentials were welded using Cricut Design Studio to rectangles created with Plantin Schoolbook. The flowers were cut again using glitter stock with skittle centers and the leaves were cuttled underneath with tiny mosaic. I didn't realize at the time I was designing it how much you could see through to the inside so I used adhesive acetate on the same cream cardstock to back the floral design. The perimeter was cuttled with Swiss dots and a few more skittles were thrown in for good measure.(Actually because I noticed after cutting the 2 sides weren't the same size. LOL) Keep in mind this card was made back in June, barely a month after getting my Cricut and only my second attempt with design studio. There is a learning curve.

Kitty thanks

Big surprise, another thank you, again for my neighbors who took care of our kitties while we were away. So far Paper Pups is the only cart I had for a kitty but it was perfect since they have their doggies. Used the super pet mat stack from DCWV and the Cricut Design Studio software to weld the shaped card. It was a Mother's Day gift from my sweet kitties ( and of course DH). The cute bone paper clip was from Walmart. OOOh look, I started a little doodling too.
