Morning Coffee New Release from The East Wind

Boy, when it rains, it pours!  This is the FIRST of 3 posts I'll be doing today.  Here's the latest digi from The East Wind and I just HAD to create with it.  It's called Lucy Loo 'Morning Coffee' and that could so easily be me, right down to the socks with Uggs, cat on the lap and mouse peeking out.  You see, Jezebel thought bringing a mouse in to play with this past Friday night was a great idea.  Me, not so much.  Fortunately, the mouse was captured and set free outside without incident (except a whole lot of lost sleep.  LOL)  I seriously needed a big cuppa that morning.  Isn't that cup charm cute?

I've colored her up with Copics in the colors of the digi paper I found online HERE.  Cut her and the computer generated sentiment with Spellbinders Deckle Rctangles.  Printed both Lucy and the sentiment in chocolate brown for a change.  BE sure to go see what my teamies have done with this adorable new digi on the TEW FB Group page.  Remember, there's a new digi each Monday and Friday at TEW.  Please scroll down to see my DT project for the new East Wind Bling Challenge too and come back for my GDT spot for Love to Create and new Challenge at Aurora Wings.

I'm entering this in the Outlawz Paper a la Mode Junk in the Trunk (Use Metal) Challenge, Ditzie Digi Designs ATG wk 6, the Emerald Faeries Friends Challenge, A Gem of a Challenge Use Gingham Ribbon and/or DP and the Squirrel and the Fox Use Something Metal.

Simply Steampunk Showcase Featuring Monster Mr. Roberts

I'm so excited to showcase the fabulous Monster Mr. Roberts from the Steampunk A Roberts Halloween range on the Simply Steampunk Challenge Blog.   It's so hard to find images for mature male projects and I think he's just perfect!
This gift bag started out as a wine bag.  I loved the dark castle image but didn't want the bottom 3rd so I cut it apart and glued it back together.  Better size anyway, as far as I'm concerned.

I printed the image on kraft paper and colored him with Copics.  The gravesones are a combination of punches and dies, also out of kraft and distressed.

The sentiment is from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells.  Perfect, don'tcha think?  This was a fun one and can't wait to fill it with creepy goodies.  Be sure to visit Simply Steampunk Challenges.  We have additional inspiration all month long and our current Layers Challenge runs through Oct 3rd.  Hope to see you there.

Mrs. Roberts Showcase for Simply Steampunk

Today I'm showcasing the lovely Mrs. Roberts for the Roberts Family Portraits Release at SBS.  I have to say the DP did most of the work here.  The fab clock is from the Black Widow paper pad by We R Memory Keepers which conveniently fits the theme of our current challenge at Simply Steampunk which is Clocks/Timepieces and runs through July 4th.  Lots of time to still join in so I hope to see you there.

Here's a close up.   Each of the digis come framed with a bit of a spooky background and are fun and easy to color. (Wish I had her hair!)  The flowers are Prima and I couldn't resist adding Steampunk centers.  Those Tim Holtz mini metal gears are my FAVE!

I'm entering this in the Crafty Cardmaker's Steampunk Challenge, The Squirrel and the Fox Use Something Metal, and Sparkles Monthy Challenge Steampunk or Vintage.

The Altered Alice For the Love of Wonderland

"So she sat on, with closed eyes, and half believed herself in Wonderland, though she knew she had but to open them again, and all would change to dull reality--the grass would be only rustling in the wind, and the pool rippling to the waving of the reeds--the rattling teacups would change to tinkling sheep- bells, and the Queen's shrill cries to the voice of the shepherd boy--and the sneeze of the baby, the shriek of the Gryphon, and all thy other queer noises, would change (she knew) to the confused clamour of the busy farm-yard--while the lowing of the cattle in the distance would take the place of the Mock Turtle's heavy sobs." -- Chapter 12, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Changes are coming for The Altered Alice. Due to pressures of work and other pesky distractions, next month will be our last regularly scheduled challenge. So this month we are sponsor-free and the design team members are sharing any projects they like that show their love of Alice.  Since our winner of last month's challenge has just been named (our Mad Hatter's watch seems to be running a bit more than 2 days slow) I made another project from our fabulous March Sponsor, The Octopode Factory.

I've made "Flip Book" with some of the most beloved characters from Wonderland. Sit back with a cuppa 'cause I've got LOADS of pix. On the cover, I have the Caterpillar who asks "Who are you? First you see each character in his/her entirety. On the opposite page there's a quote. Of course I started with Alice.

Next, the Mad Hatter.

And finally, The Chesire Cat

Each page of the book was cut in threes so the head, torsos and legs can be flipped to create fun new characters in countless ways.  The quotes then become more nonsensical as well.  See if you can tell who's who now.

Have to say, this one's my fave.  Dig the sentiment.  HeeHee!

How do you like Chessie's new hairdo?

I could go on and on.  This was so fun to make and play with.  Please visit The Altered Alice and check out the winner of the $30 Gift Certificate to The Octopode Factory and check back for the inspiration (and Linky) for our April Challenge.

We invite you to do the same and show us your love of Wonderland this month. You may enter older projects for this challenge only. Enter by April 27 to share the best of your Wonderland creations with our community.

We will of course have honorable mentions and a challenge winner, but you will be playing for the glory this month as we do not have a sponsor. We will try to organize some kind of prize although no promises! Would anyone like to donate a prize?

Next month, we will be sponsored by Stampotique, who took a chance on us and sponsored our very first challenge. I like the symmetry, alpha and omega, closing the circle.

We may have challenges in the future, but they will be more spontaneously scheduled, and in the meantime we will share "Alice sightings" and miscellaneous Alice projects with you, so stay tuned!

I'm also entering this in the DLArt April Linky Party , The Squirrel and the Fox Inspired by a Song or Movie Challenge and the Artistic Inspirations Anything but a Card Challenge.

Little Boy Blue at BBTB2 using CTMH Artiste

Happy Monday!  This week at BBTB2, our wonderfully talented Suzanne has chosen the theme with her soon to be born, first grandson in mind.  After 2 wonderful daughters and 3 lovely granddaughters, she is excited to start scrapping in blue so our theme this week is "Little Boy Blue".  Although the projects do not need to be for a baby, they are to be for a boy using the color blue.  I opted for a baby theme anyway because there was another cut on my fabulous CTMH Artiste cartridge I was dying to try.  My little favor is actually the diaper envelope (shift on the card feature) on page 64  of the cart.  For some reason, I thought is was 3D but actually, with a teeny bit of modification it easily adapted to what I had in mind.
I stretched the length of the envelope slightly in Design Studio and instead of scoring at the score lines, I scored 1/4" out from of it and after the first scallop at the back leg opening.  This made a little flat base on which to stand.  At the sides I didn't score at all, just tucked the flaps throught the slits and secured with glue dots inside.  To gain stability, I cut the scalloped card portion of this cut (twice) large enough to make a base and taped the diaper to it.
The little diaper pin AND "It's a Boy" are also all on page 64 of the Artiste booklet.  The diaper pin and pin head are separate cuts, but I cut the sentiment twice and trimmed for the two layers there. Don'tcha just love it when you can do a project with only one cartridge?  I ran out of time, but thought that matching invitations using the card and envie as intended would sure be the beginnings of great shower decor. If you haven't purchased CTMH Artiste yet, I strongly urge you to visit my dear friend and DT sister Susan's site and check out the fabulous deal.

Now please take a look at the fabulous projects from the rest of the BBTB2 team and we invite you to play along.  Just make sure you follow the rules posted at the top of the blog and have fun!

I'm also entering this in the Come and Get It Anything Other Than a Card Challenge, the Squirrel and the Fox Celebrate the Occasion (new baby) Challenge, and the Cute And Girly September Boys/Men challenge (can't help it, this makes me giggle).

Dilly Beans Black,White Plus One Other Color

Our challenge at Dilly Beans this week is Black, White, plus one other Color.  I'd been playing with Robots again and came up with this idea for Static Robot.  Isn't it fun?  Seemed perfect for the challenge since I wanted to use more embossing with my Robotz Cricut Companion folders and the light bulb gave me the third color.  WooHoo!  Did the background mat with Candy Cane Stripes, added a computer generated sentiment, highlighted the robots with Copics and there ya go.  Almost made itself.  LOL  Please stop by the DB Designer's Blog for more inspiration and check out the SHOP to see what's new.

I'm also entering this in the Paper Pretties B/W +1 challenge, Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes, Craft Your Passion Emboss it, Tammy's Scrapin Corner Lots of Layers, The Squirrel and the Fox One for the Men and the Hooked on Crafts Cards for Men Challenge.

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge and BBTB2 DT Call

If you're wondering where my BBTB2 post is this week, we have a little Easter break but be sure to visit the blog HERE for our DT call. If you've ever dreamed of joining our team, now's your chance!

Oh boy! Just sneaking this in to the Wicked Wednesday Forest Fairies and Woodland Nymphs ATC Challenge. My sweet image is Pixie P from Pixie Dust Studio. The gorgeous DP is K&Co and she's popped atop a velvet leaf from Making Memories. There's even a bit of real forest moss beneath her feet. I've added a few leaf brads, gold adhesive beads and Alpha Beads to finish it off.

I'm also entering this in the following challenges:
My Time to Craft Fairy Nice challenge
Crafting When We Can Things With Wings
The Squirrel and the Fox Things With Wings
