BBTB and Go Kreate

This week at BBTB the DT was asked to use the scalloped square tag from Celebrations and some of us combined it with this adorable Binky Boo from Go Kreate. I love these dies and have several so it you'd like to see more of what Go Kreate has to offer, check out my sidebar and click on Go Kreate (way down there under labels) to see more of what I've done with them.

I made a baby door hanger using 2 of the tags and cut "Baby" from my new Don Juan Cartridge. I'm really loving this new font and thought this feature sort of looked like baby blocks.

I cuttled the tags with Swiss Dots and did alot of popping but I'm really not all that happy with the final product. Although this should have been an easy challenge I guess I was just mojoed out. Boo Baby Card

Here's a baby card I made for Leah (her shower was yesterday (what fun!) I used the papers from her shower invitations and another of the Boo Bears fom Go Kreate available at The Scrapping Cottage. I usually prefer to make my own shaped cards using Design Studio but thought that this carriage from Wildcard would combine nicely with Boo. It also had the added plus of a matching envie. I used the "Boo for You" die and cut him once out fully and a second time with just his head. Inside I cut an oval from the mat with my Nesties and outlined it with the cut out scalloped oval so he wouldn't look like he was just floating in there. (and it matched the invitations.) He is positioned so his body doesn't show from the front but his head would be in a good positon for another head to be popped on as if he's peeking out of the buggy. It bothers me that there are no shadows on Wildcard so I cut the carriage body slightly smaller, cuttled it with the larger dots folder from the Baby cardmaking combo and popped it on the front. Alpha Beads spell out welcome.

The rattle is also from the Wildcard cartridge with a "lil guy" epoxy sticker on top. The inside embossed heart and "blessings" is also Cuttlebug. Thank heaven I had a leftover piece of matching blue scalloped card stock for the back. I realized Leah still had my threading water punch so I adhered that to the cut back of the card. This did make it a bit larger than the original so to accomodate the extra size I cut the envie 1/8" larger than I cut the card. I would have liked to cut it larger still but 6 1/8" was as large as I could go on the mat. It still managed to close though so I was a happy camper.

Boo Up the WaZooo!

I'm feeling bad that I haven't been able to participate in challenges other than for my Design teams lately but here's why. I promised to make Baby Shower invitations for my dear friend Leah (BeeCherryLady on the Cricut message board). I am a notorious procrastinator and known to change my mind numerous times when designing a project besides being an EXTREMELY slow crafter so there you go! Fortunately Leah wanted to help with assembly so they are now finished and in the mail! WooHoo!

I've been sort of stuck on the popped mat with scalloped frame design for awhile and wanted to do that for the invitations. The striped mat is cuttled with Swiss Dots and I used the Argyle folder behind Boo. The adorable bear die is "Boo on his Bum" made by the UK Co. GoKreate. He is available at The Scrapping Cottage which is one of only two companies carrying these dies in the U.S. However, after doing the prototype we realized that by just popping Boo's head and feet it was still cute and really saved on time, money (for the bazillion dimensionals), and extra postage. "A Baby Shower" is from the Cuttlebug Baby set which I cut twice for a shadow effect and the bottom mat is scalloped with my threading water border punch. Bo is exhaused from overuse and plans to retire for awhile. Trust me, no matter how much you like a design, 26 is alot of one thing to make.

My sweet kitties surprised Mommy with a new printer for Mother's Day so I was determined to figure out my Greeting Card Factory program and print the inside in matching blue matted with yellow. Forgot to take pix but I couldn't have done it without it. Mama loves you Goliath and Jezebel (Daddy too)! xx

The Cuttlebug Spot "Shape It" Challenge and Caardvaark's "Good Knight" challenge

This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we were asked to do a card with any shape other than square or rectangle. I have been dying to use the adorable Knight outfit for my Boo for You bear die so I designed a castle shaped card using Cricut Design Studio and the Doodlecharms cartridge.

I used Tim Holtz's grunge paper for the castle which is thinner than grunge board but still really flexible and cuts and embosses like a dream. I embossed the castle walls with the Tiny Mosaic Cuttlebug folder and the turret roofs with Diamonds in the Rough. They were inked and sponged with distress and chalk inks and metallic acrylic paint daubers and popped for dimension. Boo is and his outfit are dies from GoKreate, a UK company available in the U.S. at The Scrapping Cottage. "Celebrate"is an adhesive metallic sentiment I found in the $ bin at M's. It was so great creating a card for a male that wasn't a chore. LOL

Inside I used the Cuttlebug die from the Birthday Wishes combo with the knight's sword for the exclamation point. It just so happens that the Caardvark's challenge is "Good Knight" a fantasy theme. BBTB Hello Kitty Happy Birthday Challenge

Happy Monday! This week's Bitten by the Bug challenge is the Happy Birthday cut from Hello Kitty Greetings. I welded the cut to the shadow of the cake from Wedding Solutions to make a shaped card then cut several times in regular to layer. I was excited to use my new birthday candles border punch form EK success until I decided each candle needed a jewel flame (37 of the little suckers LOL) I cut the candles in gold first and then in the contrasting colors and cut off the flames and glued together but because of the patterned paper I didn't think they showed up enough. NO tweezers either! AAARRRGGHH!!! The balloons are from my Boo for You die from GoKreate that I ran through the Cuttlebug and attached with wires.

It's a very happy cut so I kept the colors very bright and cheerful. The patterned paper is from the DCWV Spring Glitter stack. Using the outline feature was a bit of a challenge as you have to cut each color in the outline in order for the letters to fit appropriately but hey, isn't that what challenges are all about? At least next time I use this cut I've got a bunch of those skinny little outlines and letters already done. The Cuttlebug Spot Challenge...Serendipity

This week's challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot is to use a technique called Serendipity which involves glueing torn pieces of cardstock to a background sheet and running it through the Cuttlebug to emboss. There is a terrific tutorial by Brigitta on The Cuttlebug Spot, or you can view it HERE. At first I wasn't so sure about this because it sort of looks like a mess with the random bits all over the paper but it truly is magically transformed when embossed. "Serendipity" means "a happy accident", but I have to admit I cheated a bit and looked at the Cuttlebug Birthday folder I planned to use for my paper placement. I chose primary colors and rather large bits because I wanted to make a child's birthday card using my new Boo for You die from Go Kreate. When I saw Nilda's adorable card on The Cuttlebug Spot the week before last I rushed right over to The Scrapping Cottage and snapped him right up! Just tell me he's not the CUTEST! The 4x4 die comes with the balloons and works right in the Cuttlebug with nothing extra needed. You just substitute a C plate for one of your B plates. The balloons and Boo's nose are glazed with Glossy Accents. I cut the window with my Nesties and thought I'd messed up because I cut it after embossing but it didn't seem to flatten out a bit. I also used a scalloped oval Nestie embossed with Swiss Dots to add some texture behind Boo. The vertical sentiment is part of the Cuttlebug cut/emboss Birthday set which I cut twice to give it some depth and of course I popped the serendipity piece, Boo's head, and the balloons for dimension. Fun with a new Go Kreate die

As a Design Team member for The Cuttlebug Spot I've had the opportunity to work with a new die from Go Kreate, a UK company that has just begun marketing in the U.S. This little Scotti dog is a 4x4 die I got from The Scrapping Cottage. You don't need any extra mat to use them in the Cuttlebug. Just use the sandwich A plate, B plate, die foam side up (that they send you and you just adhere to the cut side so it looks like a CB die), cardstock, and C plate. I thought it would be fun to use a different card size for a change so this one fits in a legal size envie. I cut each Scotti twice to shadow him a bit and popped them on a black background cuttled with the houndstooth folder. The tiny collar is also part of the die and I embellished them with tiny adhesive beads. The red border is a MS punch. The white center strip behind the ribbon is cuttled with the CB ZigZag border folder. The round tag is a circle Nestie attached with a jump ring to a bone paper clip from WalMart. The sentiment is cut with the CB Friends Forever set. Fast and fun! Please check out The Cuttlebug Spot and play along with this week's bow challenge.
