Erf was feeling a bit forlorn when all of a sudden he heard the crunching of hooves in the snow and another Shoohoo jumped down from his unicorn. "Hi, I'm Flurry. I passed Peregrine in the woods and he told me all about your quest. You couldn't interest Santa in a unicorn, could you? Wynterly here sure would be honored to join Santa's team." Erf hesitated a bit. Hmmm... I wonder, he thought, but could only manage a "Well?" before Flurry interrupted.
"No matter, Wynterly is kind of thirsty so we'll take a little break, if you don't mind. That's quite a nice campfire you have there, by the way. Maybe we should roast some marshmallows." "But...I," Erf tried to reply but Flurry pulled some out, sticks and all and said, "Oh, I always carry them. Wynterly loves them, generally not toasted, but maybe you and I can share these by the fire."
So the two toasted the marshmallows while Wynterly lay down beside them. Although Erf barely got a word in edgewise, he did learn that the reindeer would not probably come unless led by a familiar face (meaning Flurry, himself) so he should expect them when he sees them.
Hopefully the sooner the better, Erf thought, as he bade them farewell, crawled under the covers and turned in for the night.
