September New Release Showcase for Aurora Wings

Our exciting New Release Showcase at Aurora Wings features angels among us.  This first beauty is Angel of Remembrance 1.  Her folded wings and downward gaze seem a bit wistful and reflective, perfect for, yet not limited to, a sympathy or celebration of life, or perhaps a "thinking of you" card for an uplifting message to a friend in need.

Here's a closeup of Angel of Remembrance 1.  I've colored her with Copics, using initially the traditional reds for the gorgeous poppy blooms, that morph into red violets, purples and blues.  It's amazing the different feelings this beautiful angel evokes in various colorways.  Be sure to check out the Showcase Post for lovely examples from my teamies.

Angel of Remembrance 2, with outstretched wings, also stands in a glorious bed of poppies like the first, but I chose to crop the image for a circular medallion center for a card I thought initially might be for a new baby or Christening.  I planned on using pastel colors and somehow incorporating a rainbow in the background, but started playing with the 4 Copic colors I'd chosen on her wings,
et voila!

Yes, 4 Copic colors, RV10, Y13, B00, and BV000 overlapping to fill out the whole pastel rainbow spectrum ROYGBIV.  The depth was added with Toner grays and I think the result was quite happy and uplifting, don't you?

The die cuts were all Grands from Spellbinders with the layers popped for dimension.  The DP was actually from the MAMBI Baby Girl Stack that incorporated all of the colors quite nicely, but I did end up using a "Thinking of you" sentiment instead.

Here's the Angel of Remembrance 2 image in it entirety, that I'm sure I will use  again in the near future, but I appreciate that Mitzi encourages creativity and fun with her images by allowing cropping and merging and the like.

I'm adding this to the World Wide DT Open Challenge (Sept 15-Oct 12), the Outlawz Twisted Thursday (using twist rounding the corners), Crafting by Designs September ATG, ...

So one more gorgeous image popped into the Showcase that I was unable to color.  Could she be any more beautiful?

  1. Both the angels are absolutely stunning, Donna! The first angel is amazing in reds and purples. She truly is a glorious vision of beauty - so rich and magical. I can't take my eyes off her every time I see her. And the second angel is colored brilliantly in the pastel rainbow palette. The cropping works great here, and your design is fantastic! Thank you so much for the exquisite inspirations for today's new release. M xxx
