Working in the Lab Late One Night Week 2

Well it's our second week of laboratory mayhem at Haunted Design House and I've made a bit of a collage of jars from the Specimen Jar Digi Set from Smeared Ink.  They've been cropped in some cases, printed multiple times on acetate as well as CS, fussy cut and popped to get what you see here.

Inside the Large Jar I've added Labotomy (also from Smeared Ink) with Death's Head Hawkmoth from Delicious Doodles flying out the top.

Hence the sentiment from Ginger's House.  LOL  that's kinda the way I'm feeling right now as I'm trying to get this post ready and pack for my birthday trip.  Hope I managed to schedule this right!

So here's the dimensional shot.  Hard to photograph acetate for sure, but you get the idea.    Hope you like.  Be sure to check out my teamie's fabulous creations as well.  Not sure If I'll be off the grid for a few days or what but will see you soon.

Lacy Sunshine Make it Feminine

Here's a card for the Lacy Sunshine Make it Feminine Challenge for all you April Birthday girls out there (like me!)  Gotta say, the first time I looked up the flower for April I was SOOO disappointed.  Sweet peas in the garden can be such a tangled mess, but the Pleasanton Farmer's Market sells them in big bunches and although they don't last all that long, they make a gorgeous bouquet.  I'm cutting it close again because I've had to craft ahead this week on DT projects because I'm going on a little birthday trip.  Sorry about the lighting.  The sun is going in and out and casting all kinds of shadows but I've got to get this posted.

Tomorrow is MY birthday and I've gotta say I'm not all that thrilled about it.  Some milestones are best forgotten.  LOL  But I do have to admit that coloring this adorable Lacy Sunshine Sweet Pea digi (available in the Flower Pot Pretties section of the Shop) did boost my mood a bit.  She's colored with Copics in my FAVE sweet pea shades.

I was thrilled to use my new Spellbinders Grand Stately Circles to make this easel card.  The lacy edges are sooo feminine, don'tcha think?  Just happened to have some silk sweet peas in my stash, too.  the sentiment is computer generated and cut with Spellbinders Fancy Labels that I trimmed a bit to fit.  The DP is SEI Promise 6x6 stack.  When I cut the circle for the top I didn't even check if I had more for the base.  Turned out I didn't, but I did have enough to cut a partial circle from the piece I had.  By popping it, it worked perfectly to hold the easel open.  Now that's serendipity for sure!

I'm also adding this to the CMC Birthday Challenge, the Cut it Up Birthday Challenge, the Fairytale Cute Only Challenge, Di's Designs Birthday Challenge, Craftitude ATG Spring/or Easter, Paper Crafting Journey Make an Easel Card, Digi Stamps4Joy Easter or Spring, Handmade Harbor Birthday or Best Wishes, One Sweet Challenge Ringing in Spring and Really Reasonable Ribbon Monochromatic and Ribbon.

Dilly Beans Halloween in April!

WooHoo It's HALLOWEEN!  Well, maybe not everywhere, but at Dilly Beans it sure is.  Aren't you just dying to pull out your spiders, bats and pumpkins?  Come join our Halloween in April Challenge and do just that.  The weather must have known 'cause it pouring out here.  Can be gorgeous the day before but we often get rain to spoil the kiddie's fun.  Naughty spirits!  I was perusing my Halloween digis and came across #577 Monster's Pet Spider.  He made me giggle.  Gotta say that spider made me think of a toupee, hence the sentiment.

I printed him several times so I could fussy cut and pop the spider and his BIG eye.  Added googly eyes to the spider and cut a piece of packaging for his BIG eye and popped it inside.  The cool "creepy" sticker is from K&Co.  Gotta say I find hair rugs really creepy.  (Honestly, who does he think he's fooling?)  LOL  Come join the Halloween fun at Dilly Beans and see the fab inspiration by the team including our two new DT members, Jackie Cornfield and Lynne Walker.  Welcome, ladies!

Aurora Wings Challenge 2

We gals at Aurora Wings were thrilled with the turnout for our very first challenge and are excited to announce Challenge 2 today.  Our theme this time is MONOCHROMATIC.

Color schemes that are derived from a single base hue, and extended using the shades, tones and tints of that hue.

I've chosen the beautiful Steampunk Girl with Doll.  She's also available with a full background HERE.  Have to say she is about the most challenging digi I've ever colored but I'm very pleased with the outcome.  I've used about every E shade of Copics I own in keeping with the Steampunk feel.  My original plan was to decoupage her a bit, but after several days of coloring, I just added a small Prima rose (colored with Copics to match) and some pearls to her hat and earrings and called her done.  She's fussy cut and popped atop one side of a story book I cut with my Cricut using the My Community cartridge.

The other side has a variety of Steampunk die cuts from Tim Holtz and Spellbinders  grunged up a bit with Distress Ink and Rub'n Buff.  the metal bits are also Tim Holtz with flowers from Petaloo and Prima.  The hand crocheted antique doily came from a collection I brought home from my Mother-in-law's who passed away on Christmas.

Here's the dimensional shot.  The ruffled zipper trim at the bottom of her dress is from Melissa Frances and I dyed some adhesive crocheted lace with Distress Ink for the final layer underneath.  The book pages were distressed on the edges and stamped with a huge Heartfelt Creations script stamp (but only the edges of it) to look like the center of the text had been cut out.  The DP's are DCWV.  It's been awhile since I've done something this involved but I'm thrilled with how it came out.  My DT Sisters all have amazing creations so please visit the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog to view their gorgeous projects and scroll down to see the fabulous winners of Challenge 1.  Hope to see you all again for our second challenge.

I'm entering this in the Simon Says Monday Big Stamp challenge (the large script stamp on the edges of the book pages), Fairytale Stampers Bingo Challenge (using lace, ribbon (the bookmark) and pearls), Crafty Catz "B" is for (brown or book), PunkYouGirl Lavish Lace, Really Reasonable Ribbon Monochrome and Ribbon, SanDee and amelie's Favorite Technique Goes Steampunk (3 dimensional shaped projects using die cuts, digis and metal bits and bobs), 613 Avenue Create ATG, Love to Create Monochromatic with a Ribbon Twist, and Left of Center ATG Dark themed, and Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers "E" is for Embellishment (couldn't miss a challenge there, even if this one isn't snarky).

New East Wind FB Group Contest

The East Wind FB Group has a new contest starting today.  The theme is Mother's Day and you can join in HERE.  I've made a DT inspiration piece using Baby Girl.  It's a tent topper card cut with Spellbinder's Labels dies.  The flowers are done with Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies.

Baby Girl is especially dear to me because Kyra drew it from this picture of me at age 3.   My Mom has been gone nearly 20 years but this is a fave picture of hers and I know she would have loved a card like this.

I've used Strawberry DP because the dress has little strawberries on it. I still have it (only child syndrome, my parent's saved EVERYTHING of mine.  LOL) I drew those in with Prisma pencils and added little charm.  The sentiment was computer generated.  Hope you find some inspiration for this challenge and can play along with The East Wind.  The contest runs through May 17th.

The East Wind Challenge 5 Humor

WooHoo, it's the 15th of the month and that means a new challenge at The East Wind Challenge Blog.  Come on and make us laugh.  Our new challenge is...

I've made a center step card and used the fabulous 'Lucy Loo' Chilling at Home. I sat her on my new Sizzix chair die and embossing folder combo which I've cut out of Core'dinations CS and sanded. The sentiments are computer generated and cut with my new Spellbinders Labels 28.

Lucy is colored with Copics and I've added a crown brad to her head to match all the other royal references because I had the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers "Q" is for Queen Challenge in mind when I made it.  (Perhaps not exactly "snarky" but I think those gals might find it amusing.)  If you want to start your day with a giggle, I suggest you go check out the fun and fabulous cards by my DT Sisters HERE and I hope you come join us.

I'm also addng this to My Sheri Crafts A Moment of Laughter Challenge and Open Minded Crafting Easter or Pastel Colors.

Steampunk Junk Week 2 at HDH

Well, it's our second week of our Steampunk Junk Challenge at HDH and I gotta say the Minions outdid themselves.  My teamies made some fabulously creative projects and I invite you to check them out.  Be sure to go see Week One as well.  I had a bit of a tough time deciding what to do, until hubby mentioned some old goggles he had in the attic. Old googles?  WHAT old goggles?  Fortunately he was able to find them and WHOA...PERFECT!   Thought they'd look great on my Grandpa's bowler and went to work to Steampunk it all up a bit.
All I can say is God bless Tim Holtz, LOL.  I seem to have drawers of his stuff.  Just can't resisit his bits and bobs.  First I used his tattered Clock die to add a metallic piece to the front.  The hands and gear were attached to the goggles  along with metal wings and a turnkey.  I was going for "Time Flies".

Then I thought a jaunty plume was in order so I plucked one from my ostrich feather duster (Lord knows I don't ever actually dust with it) and I fashioned a medallion using an Ornate Plate, more gears and brads and a word band that fit the bill.  Not nearly as creative as the imaginative pieces my Minion Sisters came up with but I have to say I do love how it came out.  Only bummer is it doesn't fit.  My Grandpa must have had a pin head because it sit's on the top of my head (and even hubby's) like Stan Laurel's  (of Laurel and Hardy  LOL)

Lacy Sunshine Add Flowers

I'm cutting it so close to the end of the Lacy Sunshine Add Flowers Challenge that I'm gonna have to come back and fill in the gaps.  Phew!  Just made it with 3 minutes to spare.  I was thrilled to find out that as a member of the Creative Artist Team for Lacy Sunshine, posting once a month on the Lacy Sunshine Blog(where you find out what's New and Now in the Lacy Sunshine world), I'm still eligible to enter the challenges on the Challenge Blog and contests on the FB Group because I love playing there.  This card is doing double duty.  The current FB Contest is to use any of the Bubbles stamps so I'm entering this there, as well.  My plan was to make this look like a fluffy white towel on a towel bar using some cool textured paper from Sizzix.  I hand cut the towel shape and used my Spellbinders to cut the hole for Bubbles to peek through.  the sentiment was hand stamped with individual letters from an ancient set which took me FOREVER to get straight.  Why I didn't use my computer to generate it, I'll never know.  Guess I thought "practice makes perfect" but sheesh!

The adorable image is Bubbles Bath available in the Sticky Wings Section of the Shop.  She's colored with Copics and I've added some fun holographic bubbles and Stickles to the suds.  The additional daffodils are rubber stamps from Heartfelt Creations, cut with the corresponding dies by Spellbinders.

The center step design worked well for my plan and here you can see a bit of the dimension as several portions of Bubbles' daffodil bathtub and towel were fussy cut and popped on the image.  I tried to curl the "towel" to look like it was hanging on the (coffee stir stick) towel bar as well.  The whole thing actually turned out better than I expected.  Woohoo!

Dilly Beans Make an ATC Challenge

There's a new challenge at Dilly Beans and it's an easy one.  Make an ATC.  Just in case you aren't familiar, the dimension of Artist Trading Cards are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".  Other than that, anything goes ( with a Dilly Beans image, of course).  Since Easter is on it's way, I've used the adorable Amalia Easter Bunny and printed her 3 times in a row.  She's colored with Copics and I've printed "HOP" right over her eggs.  the little flowers are brads and I've backed it with green burlap that I reminded me of Easter grass.  Hope you hop on over to the Challenge Blog to see the great work by my teamies and come join in and play.

Warm and Fuzzy Easter Wishes

There's something about Spring with Easter and all the cute baby animals that get me all warm and fuzzy.  Seems I just can't stop flocking these days.  LOL  Here's a sweet one that Jezzie insisted I make.  The adorable image is Chick and Kitten-Mama it's So Fluffy.  With a name like that, how could I not flock?  Got a chance to try out my new Spellbingers Grand Decorative Labels One to make this lacy shaped card.  I cut a cut a Spellbinger's nested Egg twice and cut it to look like the chick had just hatched. and added some time punched flowers and a little bow.

Here's a closeup of the image.  TOOO cute!    The kitty was flocked with white, the chick, printed again on yellow, fussy cut and flocked with yellow.  As you can see, the shading I've done on the images with my Copics still shows through.

Today is a special day for the Aurora Wings FB group.  We're celebrating 800+ members so hope you can stop by and play along with the contests to win fabulous images that will be going on all day HERE.  And there's still time to join in our very first Blog challenge HERE.  Hope to see you there.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:
Sparkle and Sprinkle April Challenge, DLArt Thankful Thursday Easter, Milk Coffee Easter, Sparkles Monthly Challenge Easter Parade, Crafting For All Seasons Dies and Punches, Crafting With Dragonflies Easter, Divas By Design Easter/Spring, Simon Says Wednesday Happy Easter, Outlawz Saturday Paper a la Mode Animals, Cuttin' and Stampin' Rainbows/Easter, 613 Avenue Create Sights/Sounds/Smells/Tastes of Spring, Crafty Cardmakers You've Been Framed and the Just For Fun Easter Challenge.

Guest Design Spot for Crafting by Designs.

I'm so excited that today I am Guesting at Crafting by Designs.  The new Challenge is Lace/Doilies, sponsored by the fabulous Lunagirl vintage images, digital collage sheets and Cd's, also available on Etsy.  I've made a vintage tag using a beautiful Lunagirl image.  Spring always makes me think of tea parties and tea parties make me think of doilies an lace.  I've used Spellbinders Labels Five to mat the image as well as to cut the top of the tag.  The beautiful doily is also a Spellbinders, exclusive to Heartfelt Creations from the Raindrops on Roses collection.  The vintage DP is Graphic 45 and the lovely pink crocheted lace is Melissa Frances.

The teapot is a QuicKutz die.  The "T's" in Tea time are from an old Stampin'Up Alphabet set, stamped in Aged Mahogany Distress ink and cut with a smaller Labels 5 die.  The remaining letters in "Tea Time" are Nostalgiques stickers by Sticko (which remind me of the tags on a tea bag) and everything has been "shabbied" up a bit using Distress Inks.  Finally, I've added an unusually packaged tea bag that I brought home from a trip.  Not my usual style but I love how it all came out.  Thanks so much to Crafting by Designs for having me.

I'm also entering this in the Lunagirl Moonbeams Victorian Spring Challenge and the Digitally 'Sweet' Challenge Anything but a Card.

Pat the Bunny for Wicked Wednesday

I've been wanting to do another project with the adorable Sleepy Bunny Elf from Aurora Wings and noticed that Wicked Wednesday's ATC challenge this week is Bunnies.  It's been WAY too long since I played there so it fit right in.  I knew right away I wanted to flock the image ( totally into warm and fuzzy these days)and after doing so began to peruse my stash and came upon these little blue baby hand brads.  (I'd actualy been looking for Easter egg brads but they were nowhere to be found, big surprise).  Well that got me thinking baby, which led to baby books...see where I'm going here?  Well, I'm pretty sure "Pat the Bunny" is one of the first little board books that babies receive. It has a fuzzy little bunny on it to pat and feel the fuzzy texture so THAT's where I went.

Tell me he's not the cutest EVER!  I'm getting all warm and fuzzy just lookin' at him.  Although I have lots of colored flock, I decided to use all white over the colored image to soften the effect.  Had to add a pom pom tail and some Alpha Beads as well.  Now I need to recover from all the teeny fussy cutting I had to do to pull this off.  LOL

I'm also entering this in the Sparkle N Sprinkle April challenge (ATG with glitter, flockin or embossing powder), Artistic Inspirations Easter Animal/ATG, 613 Avenue Create ATG or Sights/Sounds/Smells/Tastes of Spring (babies and bunnies), Simply Create Too Easter or Use Bunnies and DL Art Thankful Thursday Bunny Challenge.

I'm so Excited to be Part of the Lacy Sunshine Creative Team

Happy Saturday.  I'm excited to announce I've been invited to join the Lacy Sunshine Creative Team posting once a month on the Lacy Sunshine Blog.  WooHoo!  I just love working with Heather's adorable stamps and today I'm showcasing that busy gal Mayde, the resident Lacy Sunshine housekeeper.  Hope some of her habits run off on me.  LOL

I've made a little inspirational chore chart with note pad.  It's bound together on top with my Bind-It-All and attached to an easel card.  Each day you can flip the pages for a new chore and picture that features Mayde hard at work and all 6 are available in the NEW section of the Lacy Sunshine Shop

Monday features Mayde Laundry Day.

Tuesday, Mayde Pressing Matters.

Wednesday, Mayde Spring Cleaning Dust Bunnies
(in our house we call them dust kitties)

 Thursday, Mayde's Electric Broom

Friday, Mayde Scrub, Scrub, Scrub

and finally Mayde's Puppy Bathtime.

On Sunday, Mayde deserves a rest, don'tcha think?  Gotta say I had more fun coloring up these gals wih my Copics than I'll ever have doing chores.  Even Stickled the suds and put Glossy Accents on the bubbles. But I do think that just looking at this cutie will improve my attitude about the whole housework thing.

Finally, I added a little Sticky Note pad and attached a pen to the binding with some ribbon I curled.  Hope you enjoyed my project as much as I did making it and will visit the Lacy Sunshine Blog regularly to see what's new.
