The Nights Are Drawing In at HDH

OOOps!  Spent yesterday on the return trip from Santa Fe and still recovering, so I'm a day late at posting my project for the new challenge at HDH.  As the days are getting shorter we dungeon dwellers are thrilled that The Nights Are Drawing In.  Feel free to interpret this theme in any way you like, as long as it's creepy rather than cutesy.  I've been tripping over this piece of kraft DP with the flocked haunted house from the MME Haunted Collection since last Halloween and thought it just might work for this project, with a bit of distressing with scissors on the edges and some inking with Black Soot.  Not sure what would be worse, staying out as darkness descends, or risk going inside.  If you dared knocked on the door, who would answer?

My inspiration came from the fab Monster In My Closet from Delicious Doodles. Would this be the welcoming hand you'd see beckoning you in?  EEEeek!!!!

I printed the image 4 times on kraft and fussy cut and popped the appropriate parts.  With all that fabulous shading, no coloring needed, except a bit of blood red dripping from his mouth. The sentiment was done with word stickers from the Enchanted Collection from Authentique, and to answer that question....... ...YES!!!!!  BE sure to pop by HDH for further inspiration and do come play along.

Fowl Play: Fur and Feathers/Tooth and Claw Take TWO

It's the midway point for the current Macabre Monday Challenge and I was so brimming with creativity that I had to do another take.  This time I've used Fellow Minion Teri's images for my Fur and Feathers/Tooth and Claws, available HERE in her Etsy shop.  The main image is The Beast which I've lightly colored with Copics, matted with blood red. The background digi paper from the Slasher set from Smeared Ink (shop to reopen soon, WOOHOO!)  I've also used Raven  and Owl be m-Eating You from Delicious Doodles.

I've fussy cut the birds and, in the case of the owl, sort of broke his other wing. I printed two sets of beast claws twice so they could really grip those babies. The sentiment is computer generated and stamped with spatter from the Inky Dreams rubber set, also from Smeared Ink, and if you think this is deliciously gruesome, have a gander at the other makes on HDH and come on and play with us!

I Love Rock & Roll at HDH

Oops!  A little late here for this month's new Challenge at HDH,  I LOVE ROCK & ROLL!  Yup, we're looking for something music inspired and you know the drill, no "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows".  Keep it dark, please.  I was having a bit of trouble with this one until  the Alice in Wonderland Blog Hop and afterwards, Minion Sister Teri, of Delicious Doodles, (or in this case Darkness) came up with a new Zombie version of Alice. Several other of her designs and several from Minion sister Ike, of Ike's Art, made it all come together so here ya go.  In case you haven't guessed the song, it's "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane.

Here's the fab new Angry Zombie Alice.  Hmm... she seems to be having a bad trip.  All images were colored with Copics with additional shading with Prismacolor pencils.

Upper left we have the Cheshire cat (who isn't in the song, but I thought Teri's Witch's Cat made such a lovely Chessie...)  I've used only the head.  Kinda surreal, eh?

Bottom left we have Teri's Skully Pawn Chess Piece.  This was formerly done for Smeared Ink but since their closing, it is available in Teri's Etsy Store.  She has a whole set too. (Click HERE for the fab deal)  The amazing chess board background is a Freebie available on the Delicious Darkness FB Group page.  (Scroll down for yours)

On the right side is the fabulous Queen of Hearts from Ike's Art.  Looks like she's been a busy gal, too.  LOL  Did Alice help?

Finally, here's the White Rabbit (AKA Zombie Bunny from Ike's Zombie Pet Shop Part 2)  For the super deal on both parts click HERE!  My hubby fills his own capsules with herbal supplements so there's no shortage of pills in this house. Came in handy for this project.  Be sure to check out the rest of the Minion Team A projects at HDH and leave them some love.  Team B will be posting on the 20th with even more inspiration.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.

June bugs, Gems and Gew Gaws at HDH

Okay, so I'm a day late with my Macabre Monday post (actually 2 weeks and a day, but who's counting?) because yesterday was so damn BUSY!  Three posts did me in, so lucky HDH gets it's own day to remind you of the current challenge called June bugs, Gems and Gew Gaws.  (Hey, I don't write 'em, I just do 'em.) So in case you haven't guessed, I did the bugs and gems part (although I suppose you could call my project a gew gaw as it is totally decorative and non functional).  The fabulous digi is called Emerging and is from Delicious Doodles, now called ArtiDoodles on Etsy because of the evil VAT laws and a long story.  She's colored with Copics, fussy cut and mounted on a piece of palm tree bark that I picked up on a morning walk ('cause I thought it might come in handy some day and today is the day) on which I've added black gem swirls from Recollections.  She's got fancy gem eyes, too.  Black Alpha Bead letters were strung on a wire and also glued to the bark and a mossy and lichen encrusted twig was added to the base.  (Yes, I walk with my head down.  Never know what you might find) And TaDAA!

Be sure to check out the fabulous makes by my Minion teamies and come play along.  Remember, we don't do cute, though.  Capisce? (Capeesch for you non Italian speakers.  LOL)

HDH In the Naughty Corner

It's our midway post for the now monthly challenge at HDH.  The theme is the Naughty Corner which gives you plenty of leeway. You can either make a naughty project, or a project about someone or something who's been misbehaving, or create something with corners, or decorate the corners.  We're easy in the dungeon that way, but we DON'T tolerate anything overtly cute or mainstream.  Capish?  So I had great plans and decided to decorate a candle box.  The fab corners are the gargoyle corners from Delicious Darkness that is coming back to life (after the nasty VAT laws ruined everything) on Etsy as ArtiDoodles.  Teri is slowly managing to add her vast array of fabulous stamps to her new shop and I'm hoping these corners will resurface soon.  The good news is that they are currently available as part of the Gargoyles Rubber set from Smeared Ink. (scroll down to get yours)  The center piece is a Skull from Anatomy 101 from Smeared Ink and was printed, fussy cut and dunked in the melt pot as instructed in the fab tutorial by Black Dragon in the Smeared and Smudged FB group.

Here's the dimensional shot.  I printed each corner 4 times and fussy cut and layered them with Pinflair and had full intentions of dunking them in the melt pot as well, but got sidetracked with a very exciting (but in the end disappointing) basketball final for the Big 10 championship where my beloved Spartans lost to Wisconsin.  The 3+ glasses of wine consumed during the game and my inconsolable state from our loss forced me to put the thing together without the faux porcelain finish on the corners.  Honestly, at that point I might have ended up with 3rd degree burns.  I expect harsh repercussions in the dungeon but they'd been worse had I abandoned the project all together so there ya go.

I'm entering this in the Smudgy Antics March ATG challenge.

Delicious Darkness Final Challenge

With heavy hearts we say good-bye to Delicious Darkness Challenges as the evil European VAT laws for 2015 have forced the closing of both the Delicious Darkness and Delicious Doodles digi shops, as well as many others.  Such a tragedy!   However,  you can still grab them, in the shops, with a fab discount, through the end of the year and they will still be available through Smeared Ink and Card Making Downloads respectively.

Our final challenge is as always ATG with an optional twist of  Creepy Crimbo. I've used an older image, Skeletal Candle Holder, for my final project.  It's backed by an embossed panel and frame cut from foam with my Spellbinders fancy squares and trimmed out with Creepmas ribbon and bling, including black glitter snowflakes by Prima.  The backing paper is from Crafty Chaos, sadly, also no longer in business.

I printed the image 3 times to fussy cut and add dimension.  The image itself is so nicely shaded that I left it "as is".  We hope you join us for our final challenge.  And while you're at it, take advantage of this wonderful opportunity HERE.

Delicious Darkness Challenge #4

It's the 13th of the month and you know what that means.  We've a brand new Challenge at Delicious Darkness with the theme of ATG/Bloody Hell.  I've changed all the digis I used to a bloody red in my PrintMaster Platinum Program.  The base DP is the 666 paper from the Beastly Paper Pack.  The next layer is the Pile o' Bones Paper and I cropped and added the terrifying Halloween Freebie from the Delicious Darkness FB group to opposing corners.  (One was flipped)  I cut a window in the center of that layer with my Spellbinders Deckle Rectangle, popped that layer and added Let Me Out!! recessed in the window.  Finished it off with MS Drippy Goo (or should I say Drippy Blood) and there you have it.  Bloody HELL!

I'm adding this to Left of Center using the LOC theme.

Delicious Darkness with a Halloween Twist

Time for a new Challenge at Delicious Darkness and our twist this month is Halloween.  Remember we're not looking for cute, here. I decided to go with orange and black.  Can't get more Halloweenie than that, can ya?  The gorgeous image is Corvus Coralyne available HERE at the Delicious Darkness shop.   I love the expression on her face.  Looks like she's got a secret.  I've colored her minimally with Copics and did give her some piercing green eyes.  Ancient K&Co DP from my stash, a little web border courtesy of my MS punch and some Halloween twine with a found feather.  I think the little birdie is jealous.

Inside I followed the color scheme and printed the sentiment using Halloween Border  with a slightly modified Happy Helloween Sentiment to better match the computer generated sentiment on the front.  Don't know why my black border photographed kind of navy, but I assure you it's BLACK!  Our monthly challenge runs through Nov 13th, so you have plenty of time to scare us silly.  Be sure to check out the fab makes by my teamies on the Challenge Blog and don't forget to scroll down to see if you're a WINNER!  It's also time to take a look at Delicious Darkness Shop.  There are a number of new stamps there including some totally terrifying jack-o-lanterns and a mermaid that is about the darkest EVER!  WooHoo!  If darkness doesn't float your boat, there are gorgeous mainstream images at the sister shop Delicious Doodles.  Please scroll down for my HDH post.

Ancient Evil Week 2

It's the second week for our Ancient Evil challenge at Haunted Design House and after careful consideration, I decided the serpent was the way to go.  Even had the Bible to back me up, so hey!  Don't know which of these guys tempted Eve, but I'm guessing it's the big fat one.  Pretty scary, Dont'cha think?  The fab image is Ophiuchus, from the Horrorscope Zodiac range at Delicious Darkness. The fab DP is from the Beastly Paper Pack which I've recolored in purple.  the quote is Matthew23:33, cut with Spellbinders Labels 2 and inked with Distress.

I printed Ophiuchus 4 times to fussy cut and pop him for dimension.  He's colored with Copics.  The snakes were embossed with my Cuttlebug mesh folder for some added texture.  Then I stuck a feather in his cap (and called him macaroni).  Just seeing if you were still paying attention.  Hee hee!  Please check out HDH to see the rest of the evils resurrected from history by the Minions and please see if you can scare one up on your own.  You know you wanna!

Delicious Darkness Challenge #2

So it's the 13th and you know what that means, a brand new challenge at Delicious Darkness.  Although our themes are ATG (as long as it's DARK) we like to put a little spin on things and give you an optional twist.  This month it's Gotta Be Gothic.  It's tough doing male cards but Teri has some fab images to choose from.  Love this new Dorian Gray.  thought he'd make a great birthday card.  LOL  I've framed him with my Spellbinders Opulent Ovals die.  The DP created the scene and I've added skullie embellies to the candlesticks on the paper.  The layered flowers are from my very old stash.

Here's that handsome devil's closeup.  I printed him 4 times so I could fussy cut and pop him as if he's escaping from his portrait.  Shudder!

Here's the dimensional shot.  Yikes!  He's even scarier this way.  BE sure to visit Delicious Darkness to see the fab makes by my teamies and hope to see you play along.

Honourable Member of A Step in the Dark

As many of you know, I spent the month of July as GDT at ASITD.  I love the challenges and the team is a total hoot so I was feeling all lonesome for them in August.  Although they just completed a DT call, I felt that I just couldn't totally commit to another team but I missed them so much and mentioned it to the gals and they created a fabulous position for me as an Honourable Member. WooHoo!  Isn't that the SWEETEST, EVER?  Now I can pop in and out as time permits and still enjoy the comradery of the group without stressing about each and every challenge.  I can't thank them enough for this fabulous honor (or should I say honour? xxx).

So of course, with this announcement, as well as the addition of new actual teamies, I had to have a project featuring this fortnight's sponsor, Delicious Darkness. The theme is ATG (as long as it's dark, of course).  I have used Aquarius  from the fabulous Horrorscope Range.  Sentiments from last year's Authentique Enchanted pack.  DP from DCWV and scraps from previous project. This was a quickie but I still love how it turned out.

New Delicious Darkness Challenge #1!

I'm very excited to announce that the very first Challenge at The Delicious Darkness Challenge Blog is now LIVE and I am on the team!!!  Our first theme is ATG, (as long as it's DARK or alternative) and you needn't even use a Delicious Darkness stamp. It runs from the 13th of every month to the 10th of the next so there's plenty of time to play.  I've created a wall hanging which started out as a fairly simple project but just grew and grew.  And so did this post, so grab a cuppa, you're gonna be here awhile.

This inspiration came first from one of Teri's newer stamps, Disturbia, with it's giant pile of creepy characters.  A good portion of the DD team also resides in the dungeon with me at HDH (imagine that!) so this reminded me of them.  xx I printed this stamp 5 times so I could fussy cut the crew and add the dimension I so love. (Better pic of that later.) Fortunately, there was minimal coloring to do, just my usual fave combo of WG! and G21 for Zombie flesh, some more warm grays for shadowing, and a couple of other greens for the lovely snakes slithering about.  After distressing the edges, I chose one of the digi papers from the Beastly Paper Pack (a total "must have").

When I saw this sentiment from Ginger's House I couldn't believe the luck! We're a tight knit bunch and this really fit the bill.  Cut and matted with Spellbinders Labels One and inked with Distress.  OOOH, notice the google eye?  They're splattered throughout.

However, the hanging was a bit lob sided now with that large sentiment, so I looked to the papers of balance it out a bit.  Ah yes, Teri's Pentagram did quite nicely.

This weekend, I went to the Scrapbook Expo in Santa Clara hoping to score, among other things, some more of the Melissa Frances hangers I so love.  However, much to my dismay, they no longer make them in black.  Bummer!  Not that I can't paint the, but...  Anyway, I bought a number of them and tried a few and this, a new style for me, looked the coolest.  However, it needed something to darken it up a bit (besides a bit of Distress Ink).  So on with the Ram's Skully (also from the DP).  WooHoo!

But, of course, I just could leave it flat.  Printed 5 times and fussy cut, here's the dimensional shot.  By the end of this project my hand was in spasms!

And finally, the dimensional shot of my bunch of crazies.  I considered naming them but didn't want to cause any more chaos. (But I'm the one middle left with her mouth open, big surprise.)  Thanks for hanging in there with my longer than long post, but, as you can tell, I really, really, REALLY love this project.

So, if you haven't visited the new Delicious Darkness Challenge Blog, you're in for a treat.  Go meet the team and check out the fabby makes and by all means, come play along.

I'll be adding it to the following dark themed blogs:  Left of Center ATGPYG August ATG Challenge, A Step in the Dark ATG.  And the mainstream Oldie but Goodie Black and White Plus One (Green and my oldies are the google eye's that are so old, some of them have turned a bit cloudy.), All Crafts Anything but a Card Aug/Sept, and Anything But a Card Repeating Motifs

May Monster Madness for HDH

There's a fun little Blog hop going on today and the Minions of Haunted Design House have decided to take part in MAY MONSTER MADNESS.  Visit the page and click the links to all sorts of Monster inspired stuff.  I've made a little project using the fabulous Pisces from the Horroscope collection at Delicious Darkness.  His snack is one of the heads from the Heads Will Roll digi from the Gross Anatomy set from Smeared Ink.

I cropped and merged the images in my Printmaster Pro program, printed them out, colored with Copics and fussy cut (what a PITA!) them to pop atop the fab background (that reminded me of the swirling waters of the Abyss) which is actually a digi paper from the Honor the Dead pack, also from Smeared Ink.

The cut, embossed and inked scroll is from the Fanciful Labels Cuttlebug folder with a slogan I nabbed from the tv advert for Shark Week.  Seemed fitting, don'tcha think?

I'm entering this in the Simon Says Monday ATG challenge.

Taurus! for Wicked Wednesday ATC

Wow!  Seems like it's been ages since I've been able to craft anything but DT projects.  Any disruption to my normal schedule totally throws me for a loop.  And as fun as it was, I'm still recovring from my birthday trip, but today I did a little catching up on my fave challenge blogs and noticed Wicked Wednesday's Challenge this week is Taurus.  Well, that be ME, so how could I possibly let this one go by?   Delicious Doodles is sponsoring and I adore Teri's Horrorscope images, also found in the Delicious Darkness shop (DUH!), so of course, that's what I used.  Just his head, though.  I did the background digitally by copying a Taurus symbol over and over from the net and printing it in shades of red.

I printed Taurus twice so I could fussy cut and pop him for dimension.  The sentiment is done with my Dymo and I've added a jump ring through his nose.  Me, stubborn?  That's a lotta BULL!
