Yellow and Orange for the Outlawz Festive Fridays

Just got back from our little overnight for our 42nd Anniversary but still wanted to sneak in at least one of the themes for the Outlawz Festive Fridays.   I chose the adorable image, Candy Corn Fairy by Aurora Wings, available  exclusively HERE on AW.Com, for the Yellow and Orange theme.  I used the png format so I could crop digital paper from AMBillustrations into circles, resize them, and arrange them behind the stamp in my Printmaster Platinum Program.  I also added the sentiment digitally before printing.  Then I colored her with Copics, cut her out with a double stitched rectangle die from Kat Scrappiness and added a little star to her wand.  Found the perfect DP in my stash et voila!  A quickie CAS card that I think turned out pretty darn cute.

Birthday Hippo!

We're still playing catch up with all the fabulous new releases from Sandra Caldwell and today I'm showcasing #1752 Birthday Hippo.  That is one huge cupcake, I'd say.  I found fun candy striped digi paper from Ambillustrations and punched additional cupcakes from a large Martha Stewart border punch.  Whoa! Tough going.  I actually had to STAND on the punch to get it to go and did it 3 times to fill in the frosting with different colors.  I added mini buttons to the tops to play in the Outlawz Saturday Paper Ala Mode challenge and used my new stitched tag dies from Gina Marie to cut Birthday Hippo and layered and popped for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Layers and Dimension challenge. WooHoo!

Here's a closeup of #1752 Birthday Hippo.  She's colored with Copics and I tried to get the piped feel of the frosting. (may have to work on that)  there's a bit of glitter on the candle flames and some Nuvo drops on the balloon and sprinkles.

Just thought I'd mention that if you love hippos, there's a new challenge just starting in the Sandra Caldwell Stamps fans FB Group HERE.  Sandra has reduced the price of 4 of her fun hippos and added two new ones for only $1.50 for the duration of the challenge.  Check out the SALE digis HERE and come join the fun.

I'm also adding this to the DL.Art August Linky Challenge, the DL.Art Thankful Thursday #210 Circles and StripesCrafting with an Attitude #30 AG, the Paper Shelter #305 Punches and Dies, Crafting by Designs August AG, Simon Says Stamp Add a Sentiment (small, but there), TTRCD Aug 14-22 AG, Craft Rocket #40 Animal Kingdom, Crafty Friends #64 AG and Crafting from the Heart #172 AG...

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Okay, so last year California was praying for rain, this year not so much, as we've now surpassed the wettest year since 1922.  We should be able to have lots of flowers now that the drought is over though, but my hope is that we won't be splashing in puddles again anytime soon.  I've made a card to commemorate this record wet year using the adorable #1450 Rainy Day Gal by Sandra Caldwell (and to add to the Outlawz Festive Fridays splashing in puddles and umbrella challenge).  I've used the sketch from the current (yea, me!) Outlawz Wednesday Sketch challenge with digital paper from AMBillustrations, and scraps on my desk from DCWV and Debbie Mumm for JoAnn Fabrics.

Here's a closeup of #1450 Rainy Day Gal where you can hopefully see the Diamond Glaze I applied to her slicker and boots after coloring with my Copics. I've used translucent blue Nuvo Drops for the puddle and raindrops too.  It's also entered in the Outlawz Name that Letter challenge where you use as many things you can think of with the first letter of your name.  Can you count the "D"'s?  (There are 8)

I'm adding this to the DL.Art May Linky challenge, Jo's Scrap Shack #187 AG, Crafting-With-Friends #42 AG, Creative Ladybirds May AG and Crafty Hazelnuts May Patterned Paper Challenge .

Bloobel Stamps Meets the Outlawz Sketch

This month the Outlawz Sketch Challenge is being sponsored by Bloobel Stamps so I've tried to enter each week.  This is 3 for 3, yea ME!  This adorable little guy is from Bloobel called Party Gineau Pig (not my spelling, LOL  maybe it's French?) and I thought he'd work well with this week's sketch (which of course ends today).  He's colored with Copics and I took the colors from the digital zig zag paper from AMBillustrations.  The heart banners are by LaLa Land but I'm not so sure whose clouds those are.  The twine is from DL.Art.

Here's the sketch.  I'm finally getting a little more comfortable with tweaking them sketch and I'm pretty happy with the outcome.  Obviously I turned it vertically and played with the embellies but I think it's still visible.  What do you think?

I'm adding this to the DL.Art April Linky Challenge, a second entry for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Look Alike Challenge (2 banners, or hearts, or clouds), Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #56 AG, Cupcake Inspirations #404 Animals and Cute Card Thursday Birthday

Walking in the Rain

Well, Governor Brown has officially declared the drought to be over in CA (DUH!) and today is another dreary drizzly day.  Not that I'm particularly complaining, since we lost a lot of our landscaping the last few years, but I was up for a little sunshine.  Guess it's a great day to join in the Outlawz Festive Fridays with their Walking in the Rain theme using the adorable #1444 Wet Kitty by Sandra Caldwell.  He's colored with Copics and I've added some translucent light blue Nuvo Drops to the puddle on his umbrella, ground, and raindrops but I'm bummed that it cracked a bit.  I've not had that problem with the other colors I've used.  The raindrop digi paper is from AMBillustrations and I added a yellow partial mat to further brighten up the poor kitty's day.  When it rain, my Goliath runs from door to door thinking the weather will be different if he just finds the right one to go out.  LOL  Not happening.

I'm adding this to the SUYP (cats only) April Furrything Goes, CCC Creations Include an Animal, Crafty Animals AG, Crafting When We Can #141 Animals, Crafty Animals #1 AG, Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #55 AG, Crafty Friends Animals or Birds and DL.Art April Linky Challenge.

Wild Roses from Sheepski Designs

This gorgeous Wild Roses image from SheepSki Designs was available for a very short time on the Through the Craft Room Door FB page and I was lucky enough to nab it to join in their March challenge, which thankfully has been extended, and the image is still on sale if you'd like to join in (but hurry!). I've seen so many gorgeous color combos using this image that I'm sure I will be coloring it over and over, but this time I've gone with a Springy peach and yellow combo using my Copics and Prismacolor pencils.  I've cut with a Spellbinders Labels One die and matted with the lacy Lucious Labels One cut out of patterned DP from Graphic 45.  The mint gingham is digital paper from AMBillustrations and I've added some flocked tulle tied with Primrose crinkle ribbon from the DL.Art Spring Bundle One.  The sentiment is a delicate gold sticker.

I'll also be adding this to the SheepSki Designs FB Challenge 10 and the very first SheepSki Designs April Blog Challenge AG, TTRCD Week of April 4th AG, the Outlawz Monday Greetings Spring Colors challenge, the DL.Art April Linky Challenge, Simon Says Wednesday Happy Birthday, Die Cut Divas April Birthdays , RRR #161 Flowers (w/ribbon or trim) and Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #55 AG .

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Day 2-Thank you Verve!

I'm telling you, it's really hard to actually craft when there's so much fabulous inspiration  going on at the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  I can barely tear myself away from the computer to eat and I'm actually shivering with excitement (or is it the caffeine?)  Anyway, I was thrilled that Verve Stamps (a Super Sponsor for the Hop) had another fabulous digital freebie and Link Up opportunity on their Blog.  I was lucky enough to be the winner last time for the Lucky Day challenge and thrilled that I've already gotten my fabulous goodies (mostly coffee related) so you should be seeing some of my winnings a little later in the Hop.  My gift voucher went an especially long way because they just happen to be having a sale, so thanks so much to Julee for everything!

I've played around digitally with the sun, tea cup and 2 sentiments from the Rise and Shine Free Printable.  I fashioned a long thin card with digital papers from AMBillustrations.  The digital frame was in my files with no name.  I printed it and colored the sun and cup with Copics.  Easy peasy.  I'm hoping my color scheme is Springy enough.

I'm also adding this to the DL.Art (another Super Sponsor) March Linky Challenge, Word Art Wednesday #274-275 and Lil Patch of Crafty Friends AG challenge #54.

Happy St.Cat-rick's Day

Really, really, REALLY busy day today.  This is my THIRD post.  (Yea, ME!) Please scroll down for the others.

You know I love playing in the (SUYP Cat's Only challenge) and the March theme is AG (with cats, of course) or St.Cat-rick's Day.  Of course I couldn't resist the latter, especially since Ike provided us with this fabulous fur-eebie, complete with sentiments.  WooHoo!  Kind of a simple design with shamrock digi paper from AMBillustrations and a striped piece that was laying on my desk. I added one of Ike's sentiments and some glitter shamrocks because he looks like he's feline lucky.  LOL

Here's a closeup of this handsome guy.  I've been practicing fur and tried to add texture with only my Copics this time.  (Okay, there's a teeny bit of pencil here and there, but the majority of him is marker's only.)  I have a bad habit of putting multiple images on my page before printing and when I went to cut him out with a die, there wasn't room.  GGGrrr!!!  Of course I could fussy cut, but I wasn't up for tackling the whiskers so I decided to color a rug under him.  At first I only had the 3 colors of green and it looked really sucky, but after pulling out the pencils and drawing in what is supposed to be a rag rug design, I thought it wasn't half bad.

Thanks to Ike for her generous gifts of fabulous freebies (you can find more on her Ike's World Challenge, and also on the Ike's Art Fan Page.)  Love, love, LOVE them, especially her KITTIES!

I'm also entering this in the Ike's World AG /optional Over the Rainbow challenge, the Outlawz Festive Fridays St. Patrick's Day theme (close enough, LOL), Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #53 AG, Glitter and Sparkle Use Some Green and Simon Says Wednesday A Bit O'Green

An Irish Blessing

Busy Thursday.  This is my second post of the day.  I'd also love it if you'd visit my GDT post for the C.R.A.F.T. challenge HERE.

Since St. Patrick's day is TOMORROW, I thought I ought to hurry and use the fabulous Lucky Day Freebie set (until St. Patrick's Day) from the Verve Store and enter their Lucky Day challenge.  I changed the color of one of the Irish coffee mugs from black to brown in my Printmaster Pro Program and sort of digitally free handed some whipped cream on top.  My own Irish Coffee mugs are clear glass with etched shamrocks, so that was the look I was going for. The digital paper is from AMBillistrations and I also used one of the other colorations in the set to fashion a saucer.  The Irish Blessings sentiment is also from the Verve Lucky Day set that I expanded upon slightly.  After printing I did a bit of shading with Copics, pencils and pens and there ya go.

I'm also entering this is the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge, the DL.Art March Linky Challenge, Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #53 AG, SOSS #79 G is for Green with Envy and Simon Says Wednesday A Bit O'Green.

It's a Girl!

I've had this adorable little Love Bear from Scrap N' Dipity paper pieced (with did paper from AMBillistrations) for awhile and finally figured out what to do with him...or should I say her?  The Scrap N' Dipity Blog challenge calls for hearts, but it's a little late for a Valentine's theme, so as I poked around in my stash, I came across these little hot pink doilies.  Positioned behind the little bear's head, it looked just like a baby bonnet so I added a bow under her chin, et voila, a baby girl teddy!

To further the Heart theme I also added a heart shaped doily behind her and a small epoxy heart under the sentiment cut from a Cuttlebug die.  To further the pinky goodness I added a scrap strip in a darker pink and ruffled some Baby Pink crinkle ribbon from the Baby Bundle at DL.Art on some Scor-Tape and 3 "skittles" that just happened to be stuck to my desk with glue dots and called it done.

I'm also adding this to the DL.Art March Linky challenge, Lil Patch of Crafty Friends AG and the Outlawz Festive Fridays for their Something Pink theme.

Outlawz Sunday CAS

The Outlawz Sunday CAS challenge calls for Brown, Ivory + One Other Color this week and I made the quickest one layer card EVER.  I used my Printmaster Platinum Program to crop a piece of pink checked digi paper from AMBillustrations into a heart and added the adorable Bugheartcats from Bugaboo (only $1.00) on top.  I changed their color from black to brown, added a sentiment and printed on ivory card stock.  Only coloring was their little pink noses and I couldn't resist a tiny twine bow from DL.Art attached with Fabric Fusion.  Done!  WooHoo!

I'm also adding this to the DL.Art February Linky challenge, the SUYP (Cats only) Kitty Love Challenge, the Bugaboo Crafty Challenge, Your Scrapbook Place February AG (using sponsor image) and Country View Challenge 30 Minutes or Under.

The Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge Sponsored by Sandra Caldwell

Okay, so here's my second post of the day, and I'm still neglecting my impending DT duties, while catching up on some challenges I wanted to enter. Another for the Outlawz, this time for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge (and it's only Monday, Yea, me!).  Sandra Caldwell is sponsoring and has even drawn 5 cute images, especially for the Outlawz, and offered at a discount price of only $1.50.  However, I chose #1381 Glamour Betty, also on sale (for a limited time), as one of the Glamour Gals, for the FB contest that ends tomorrow, in the Sandra Caldwell Stamps FB Group.  When you take the weekend off, you just gotta do some double duty.  You can see all the discounted digis HERE, but act fast.  I don't know how long this will last.

I've colored Glamour Betty with Copics, used digi dot paper from AMBillustrations and basic twine from DL.Art.  the heart gems and flower are from my stash.  Although I didn't follow the sketch exactly, I think you still get the idea, don't you?

I'm adding this to the DL.Art February Linky Challenge, Lil Patch of Crafty Friends AGCupcake Inspirations #394 Carmine, White, Black and If You Give a Crafter a Cookie #62

Love my "Puss"ghetti!

I just love this fun new image from Sandra Caldwell called #1376 Spaghetti Kat but just couldn't resist a little play on the mispronunciation so many kids seem to say and tailor it for a kitty.  LOL  I've framed him with a digital twine heart from Delicious Scraps (thanks, Ike!) that looked like spaghetti to me, fussy cut the whole kit and kaboodle and added little fork tied with twine from DL.Art.  The Italian restaurant tablecloth (background DP) is also digital from AMBillustrations.  The sentiment is computer generated and popped with foam and I've also added some tiny punched hearts (to further the "love" theme).

Here's a closeup of #1376 Spaghetti Kat.  He's colored with Copics with a little silver gel pen action on his fork.  He makes me giggle, especially with the strand of "puss"ghetti stuck on his nose.  I think "purr"haps pasta is in order tonight.

Also, be sure to visit Sandra's Etsy Shop and check out the all of the sale digis she has for only $1.50, for a limited time, HERE.  Not only cute Valentine's Day images, but also some Glamour Gals for the current FB Contest in the Sandra Caldwell Stamp Fans Group.  Don't miss out.

I'm adding this to the DL.Art February Linky Challenge, Cards und More Pets and other Furry Friends, TTRCD AG week of Feb 7,  Lil Patch of Crafty Friends AG (2/14) and the SUYP (cats only) Kitty Love Challenge

Celebrating with Fiki

My friend Fiki from Bad Kitty's Craft Room is celebrating 5 years of blogging and drew these adorable party cats as a freebie.  I'm a little late for the party because I had a hard time deciding what colors to choose, and have to admit I messed up several times, but I wanted to join in and show my appreciation of her talent and friendship.  I tried to get some fur texture using both Copics and pencils, then fussy cut and added them to a computer generated layered background using digi papers from AMBillustrations.  Thank you so much Fiki for your sweet kitties and congratulations on your Blogoversary.  xx

I'm entering this in the SUYP Furrything Goes, the DL.Art February Linky Challenge, Creative Knockouts Birthday Wishes, and Simon Says Monday Pets Corner.

Tuesday Color with Bloobel

Before I say anything else, I want to thank those of you who made it through my little rant the other day about blogging vs FB and your kind responses.  It's nice to know that at least some people still enjoy the personal connection blogging affords and my efforts don't always fall on deaf ears eyes.  LOL  It did my heart good.  xxx

This one is for the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge, which should have been done a whole lot sooner today since I started coloring at 3:30 am.  That's pretty early, even for me, but I'm not sure if I should blame the hour or perhaps possibly a "senior moment" because I actually used the colors from last week's inspiration, probably because they were still on my desk, I guess. (Although I never finished that one)  So ignore that big honkin' PINK balloon. It was supposed to be ORANGE but I didn't check the pic again this morning because I thought I had it down.  I managed to change her dress by coloring it over with orange and yellow, but I was chicken to mess with the balloon so PINK it shall stay.  The cloud paper is digital from AMBillustrations.

I'm pretty sure I won't be drummed out of the corps because it actually has a photo inspiration and it's pretty obvious what inspired me.

The adorable image I used is from Bloobel Stamps called Up and Away.  She's colored with Copics and I've added butterflies punched from a Martha Stewart punch that I've colored to match.  Added gems to the centers and a sticker sentiment and there ya go.

I"m also entering this in the DL.Art January Linky challenge, Simon Says Monday Spread Your Wings, Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #50 ATG, Get Creative Challenge January #54 ATG and HIMCR #285 Color It.

Happy Birthday to Hubby! (And Happy New Year to YOU!)

Short post because it's my hubby's birthday (not to mention New Year's Eve) We have a bit of a standing joke about how he never wants to become a "grumpy old man" so I couldn't resist the hilarious Bureau of Complaints by Bloobel Stamps.  I combined it with Selfie Stick (also from Bloobel and NO, I don't have one) to create this card.  The images are colored with Copics and I've used digital paper from AMBillustrations.  I've used faux stitched die cuts from Gina Marie and La La Land.  The sentiment is computer generated.
Inside it says "It's your birthday.  No grumpy old men allowed." He laughed... fortunately.

So in case I don't get back here tomorrow, I'm wishing you all health, happiness and more love than you could ever imagine in the coming year.  xxx

I'm entering this in the DL.Art December Linky Challenge, the DL.Art Thankful Thursday ATG challenge, the Outlawz Twisted Thursday ATG, and Simon Says Wednesday ATG.

Fruits or Veggies for Wicked Wednesday ATC

The new challenge at Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge started today with the theme of Fruits and Veggies.  Their fabulous sponsor is A Day for Daisies and I just had to play along.  The adorable ADFD image is Strawberries in Milk Fairy. It's definitely strawberry season in CA.  Was thrilled to see that the current ADFD challenge is Anything but a Card and I think an ATC qualifies so I'm so happy to enter it there, as well.  The strawberry digi paper is AMBillistrations and I've added a corner of a mini doily, some gingham ribbon, heart shaped Alpha Beads and a mini silver spoon.

I've colored with Copics and in this pic you can better see the Stickled Wings and Diamond Glaze on the luscious strawberries.  YUM, is right!

I'm also entering this in the DL.Art May Linky Challenge and Inspiration Destination ATG.

New Release(s) at The East Wind

It's Friday, so that must mean we have a fabulous new release at The East Wind.  Actually, there's  THREE and I've used TWO of them  in my card.  The adorable gal is Aurora 'Little Baker' and behind her is Love Kitchen.  I wanted to use the two together, but printed them separately to make my little scene.  You actually can buy the images already together as well, HERE, but I had plans to move and manipulate the scale for my design and with the two separate, I had lots of options for future projects as well.

So what's with all the cats?  Well, Aurora's tee shirt has a kitty on it (which looked a lot like the logo I made up as a child for my "Red Cats Club") AND I thought the cookies could just as easily be cat treats.  A kitty is perched on the shelf of Love Kitchen, so why not give him some friends?  Cats have been my favorite animal since I picked out my very first kitten at age 4.  They're independent, but loving and I can't imagine ever being without one, or two, or three.  The small kitties are all from an Impression Obsession die and the large pouncing cat is a Memory Box die.  I'm thinkin' this is what my friend Ike's kitchen looks like with all her resident kitties, and besides, I wanted to link it up to Ike's SUYP (cat's only challenge) which this month is Furrything Goes.

Okay, so I'm gettin' kinda chatty here, but I gotta say, I love how this turned out.  It's my fave color scheme and I had fun playing with the retro checks digi paper from AMBillustrations.  I think the tan mat looks like a butcher block counter and gave me another space to add KITTIES!  The sentiment is a rub on from Melissa Frances.

Here's a closeup of Aurora 'Little Baker'.  She's colored with Copics with the silver baking sheet done with Prismacolor pencils.  I've paper pieced her apron to match her kitchen and fussy cut her without a border to add her to the background.

And here's Love Kitchen.  To be honest, coloring the entire background intimidated me a bit, so I printed it once and left it uncolored, then used the NB png version to add the checkered wall behind and cropped that into a heart. After cutting out the heart, I colored what was left of the image, again with Copics and pencils, and glued it on the uncolored image for a heart shaped "spotlight"  affect.  To balance the card, I added some punched photo corners and adhesive beads.  Wouldn't you just LOVE a kitchen that was red, black and white like this?  I'd redecorate in a heartbeat if I didn't have green granite counter tops.

I'm also entering this in the As You Like it Favorite Animal and Why challenge (explained up  in paragraph 2), Craft Rocket Favorite Color Combo (Red, Black and White), Crafting with an Attitude ATG, 613 Avenue Create ATG ,  DL.Art April Linky Challenge, Brown Sugar ATG, Creative Fingers ATG (3/3), 4 Crafty Chicks "F" is for Food,  Cre8tive Hands ATG, TTRCD April 19th-25th ATG, Quirky Crafts It's Raining Cats and Dogs, LTSCB #76 ATG (2/3) and the Outlawz Saturday Paper a la Mode With Heart Challenge

New FB Challenge at The East Wind

There's a new FB contest on The East Wind FB Group Page  with the theme of Rainbows.  We want to see all the colors of the rainbow or use an image of one.  My original plan was to use either rainbow DP or color a rainbow background, but I had so much fun coloring rainbow hair before, I thought I'd try it this time in a bright version.  Unky has so many gals with fabulous hair in her Etsy Shop that it took me awhile to choose.  I finally Googled "Rainbow Hair" and was inspired by a braided version, so I printed the gorgeous 'Lucy Loo' Scent of Spring.  The quote, by Maya Angelou was computer generated and I colored the open letters in "Rainbow" with all the colors.  the background digi paper is from AMBillustrations.  Pretty CAS, but frankly the coloring wore me out.  LOL

Here's the closeup, colored with Copics and Prismacolor pencils.  Quite the challenge, but I'm pleased at how it turned out.

Come join the fun!

Rainy Day and Mondays Always Get Me Down

I don't get to play in Ike's World Challenges nearly as much as I'd like, but when I saw the theme, Rainy Days, and the fabulous Freebie, Tatty, Wetty Kitty, that Ike so generously supplied for this challenge I KNEW I'd be coloring him up.

I laughed out loud when I saw him because he reminded me of my Goliath and his reaction to rainy days.  We've managed a few late rains in our drought stricken CA, and the kitties have been less than amused.  Goliath tears out the back door and stops dead in his tracks when he realizes what's going on.  Then he begs to come in and runs to the front door.  You see, he figures that the weather out there is somehow different.  UUUhhh...NOT!  He peers out and looks at me like, "WTF?" and in he comes again.  One more door to try.  He's sure it's not raining out the garage.  Out he runs, but I leave the garage door open a tad, and the door out to the garage slightly ajar, because I'm tired of this game. Sure enough, in minutes he's back in looking totally annoyed and confused.  So you can see why I go such a kick out of this poor bedraggled cat with his umbrella head gear.  Wonder where I can get one, by Friday, in fact.

I made the card CAS because the image deserved top billing. The digi paper is from AMBillustrations.

Here's a closeup of the fab image.  He's colored with Copics with fur detail from Prismacolor pencils.  I hope I captured the "tatty, wetty" look.  LOL  The sentiment was purrfect and comes with the image.  Ike's SUYP (cat's only) challenge this month is Furrything Goes, so of course I'm entering there, as well.  Ike is so generous with her freebies and offers one for each challenge so if you've not visited them, you surely must.  You can check out more of Ike's fabulous designs HERE.

I'm also entering this in the Outlawz Monday Greetings Cards Furry and Funny Challenge, Incy Wincy Designs Inspired by a Book, Song, Movie (the song Rainy Days and Mondays), Creative Moments ATG/Make it Funny, The Mod Squad Water, Water Everywhere, the DL.Art Thankful Thursday Water Challenge, TTRCD April 19th-25th ATG, Quirky Crafts It's Raining Cats and Dogs and the DL.Art April Linky Challenge.
