The Party Continues on the AWCB

Well I'm winging my way home from Florida and our nephew's beautiful wedding, probably as you read this, but managed to work ahead for this Mid- Inspiration Post for our special 4th Anniversary Party/Sprite Delight V Challenge.  I hope you've all collected your "party favor" as she is still available until the challenge close on April 14th and look forward to you joining us with ANY of Mitzi's adorable Sprites.

Okay, I'm sure those of you have been experiencing Winter weather far longer than normal are not thrilled to see a snowy card, but I'm fond of doing Christmas year 'round and to be honest, I had a major Copic catastrophe with my original image and plan and this cutie was started for some other challenges. Pretty sure Hot Cocoa Sprite, available HERE on AuroraWings .com and HERE on Etsy could melt even the coldest heart though, don'tcha think?

Here's a closeup of Hot Cocoa Sprite.  He's colored with Copics and fussy cut after gluing him on some light turquoise card stock.  I then glued him to a snowflake ornament and clipped him to a double stitched tag from Gina Marie.  The gorgeous hand dyed crinkle ribbon is from DL.Art.

I thought this turned out so cute that it would be fun to make him removable from the card to hang on your tree, so here he is doing just that.  WooHoo!

If you're more in the mood for Springtime, be sure to visit the Challenge Blog and see the gorgeous makes by my Stella team sisters and don't forget to grab you "party favor" while you're there.  Hope to see you join in our Sprite Delight V/4th Anniversary Celebration.  Double prizes this time.  WooHoo!

Here's how to keep up with all that's happening at Aurora Wings.

Santa Head Ornie

I love to recycle empty ribbon Spools and this adorable #1901 Santa Face Ornie by Sandra Caldwell was a natural to turn into an ornie to hang on the tree and keep the children in line. LOL He's colored with Copics and fussy cut to hang on a mini pine branch.  I've covered both side with DP and used marabou feather garland around the spool (for the Outlawz Festive Fridays something with feathers theme) and a wire loop, bow and  computer generated sentiment.

I'm also entering this in the DL.Art November Linky Challenge, Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #69 AG, Aud Sentiments #193 AG w/Sentiment (3/5), Inspiration Destination #193 AG, Crafty Girls Creations November #41 AG...

Ballerina Kitten

Here's a fun little project I did for my Jezebel, who dreams of being a "boofy"(beautiful) white prima ballerina kitty.  She also wants to remind everyone that "Warm and Fuzzy" are her middle names and Saturday is your last chance to join HER (everything's about HER) Warm and Fuzzy Challenge at Aurora Wings.

Here's a closeup of the adorable Swan Lake Ballerina Kitten (I mean Jezebel). She's colored with Copics and Prismacolor pencil for the fur details with a good dose of Stickles and Perfect pearls on her lovely costume.

I've made the ornament from a recycled ribbon spool with DP from MAMBI, cut with Spellbinders scalloped circles, on either side.  I've wound marabou trim around the middle for more fuzzy goodness and added a bow and gems so it can hang on her pink (of course she loves pink, she's a girly girl) Christmas tree.

Please note that although Jezebel admits the trim is soft and fluffy, it isn't nearly as soft and fluffy as she. (Ya think?)

Jezzie also wishes to remind you that here is now a monthly "Kitties Only" challenge Blog called "Show Us Your Pussies" which Mommy will be harassed regularly to enter.  LOL  This month's challenge is Furrything Goes.  Now it's nap time...TA!

I'm also entering this in the C.R.A.F.T. Not a Card challenge, Crimbo Crackers ATG, the Outlawz Twisted Thursday ATG/optional twist favorite card shape, Crafty Ribbons Anything but a Card, In the Pink ATG, TTPH ATG, the ABC Christmas Challenge "A" is for Anything Goes and the Southern Girls One for the Girls.

Ho, Ho, Ho! (Better late than never)

I'm having a bit of a tough time, not only crafting, but blogging, since I took some time off during the holidays to enjoy more time with friends and family, but here's a little ornament I made for one of the Gecko Galz FB challenges using an image from the Gecko Galz Blue Christmas Craft Kit.

I sized the center portion to fit the ornament with the snowflake edges popping out and printed it 3 times so I could fussy cut and decoupage the layers.  I used Pinflair (sort of a silicone gel that doesn't give off fumes) between the layers, instead of foam, because of the small size.  There was still room for a sparkly pom pom for his hat, as well.

For the back I sized one of the sentiments from the Gecko Galz Words of the Season Collage Sheet , recolored it red in my Printmaster Platinum program and glued it to the back of Santa.  I inked the edges of the snowflake, added some Stickles and popped it in the ornament with some Tim Holtz silver tinsel around the edge.  I so enjoyed my year as a DT member at Gecko Galz, but I've stepped down from all but 2 of my DT's in order to (hopefully) organize and remodel my craft room.  I certainly will miss the fab team but hope to continue to participate in their challenges when I'm able.

Dilly Beans Ornament Challenge

This week at the Dilly Beans Challenge Blog we're making ornaments.  OOOh, fun!  I grabbed my trusty Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament Die again and went to work.  Now which digi should I choose?

Couldn't resist #305 Christmas Owl all bundled up for the cold.  He's colored with Copics with an addition of some Stickles and red Pearl Pen and cut out with my Spellbinders Crown Ovals.  It's popped atop some Christmas trim from M's and the flakes are epoxy stickers.

It actually is a 3D ornament.  I cut it 7 times and folded, stapled and fanned out the layers.  They really didn't want to stay even, so I cut very thin strips of green adhisive foam that I'd made using transfer tape and stuck each strip at the fold which seemed to do the trick.

I trimmed it out with gingham ribbon and some Prima holly leaves and here it is hanging on the tree.  Please be sure to visit the Challenge Blog later today and grab inspiration from the fab projects by my DT sisters and come play along.  And don't forget the SALE at the Dilly Beans Shop as well as your last chance for discontinued stamps.  Some of my faves are there, so don't miss out!

I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Anything Christmassy Challenge.

Spellbinder's 3D Christmas Ornaments

I so love my Nesties for SOOO many reasons, but this is one of my favorite projects yet. These ornaments were inspired by the 3D Valentines my Daddy used to make for my teachers but I thought I'd used the Nested Pine Trees to do some Christmas ornaments. I did both a rustic and elegant version. Soo much fun! the instructions are available on Custom Crops HERE. Hope everyone is all ready for Christmas. I'm still working on my decorating since my cold had me down. Sorry for such a short post but I've got to GET BUSY! I'm only about 1/3rd of the way done. xxD

BBTB Home Decor Chandelier

Imagine my dismay after doing my Spooky Chandelier card for Custom Crops that I would have to come up with ANOTHER project using that cut for BBTB! (Actually dear Regina offered to let me submit that for the BBTB challenge too, but I didn't quite think that was fair so I put my thinking cap on.) Since I'd already had Halloween covered I decided to do Christmas in the form of an ornament. No Design Studio needed here, (although I did use it to figure out size). I just cut the chandelier out 4 times at 4 1/2 inches and scored each down the middle. I used my Cricut cutter with the scoring blade for this, the scorepal would have been too wide a score. Then I folded each one and then ran them through my Xyron. I thought this would be easier than trying to glue each section. Once I had it all together I sprayed it with adhesive spray and sprinkled on the glitter. I used MS super fine because I didn't want to lose detail, but I'd wish I'd used something more sparkly because you can barely see it in the pic.

I was going for the Dr. Zhivago look (you know what scene I'm talking about) and wanted to pile on a little snow. I used Stardust Stickles and MS mica flakes on the appropriate areas and then added some embellies including some gorgeous mirror brads (I cut off the prongs) and crystal snowflakes from my LSS along with my fave adhesive gems. The bad news is they don't stay stuck very well on the glitter so I have to go back and glue them on so they'll stay. Sorry about the pix. Had a really hard time getting decent ones. Now I know you want to play along with this challenge, this cut is sooo gorgeous and to get some inspiration click HERE to see what my fabulous Design Team sisters have done.
