Steampunk Bookmark

I love books.  REAL books.  There's nothing like the feel and smell of a book and they make such fabulous gifts.  For years at Christmas I received one of the "Oz" series and I couldn't wait to crack it open and dive in.  I still own them all and the memories of getting lost in that magical world still thrill me to this day. So despite technology, I plan to give real books this Christmas with a little something extra, like this homemade Steampunk bookmark.

Again I've used the new release Steampunk Hummingbird from SCACD (also available in rubber HERE) but this time colored him almost entirely with metallic gel pens to give it a more masculine feel.  (Scroll down to see my feminine version of this stamp).  He's fussy cut, but not popped as I think when it comes to bookmarks, the flatter the better.  The DP is Crafty Chaos (unfortunately no longer in business).

I've cut the gears from several different Memory Box dies for the top and bottom (The bottom ones looked like funky Steampunk glasses to me, don'tcha think?)  This gorgeous Alice's Clock die is an SCACD exclusive.  I was basically thinking "Time flies with a good book".  Ain't it the truth?

I'm entering this in the Simon Says Wednesday ATG Challenge.

So Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating today.  Even with all the cooking and festivities, I couldn't let the day go by without saying thank you to my friends and followers.  I am truly thankful for the ability to share my creative endeavors with you and all the love and support I receive from you each and every day. In celebration, I've made a Thanksgiving wall hanging in the Steampunk style using the fabulous new Steampunk Hummingbird and Steampunk Flower designed by Carmen Medlin, exclusively for SCACD.

I know some people are not fans of the Steampunk style, saying it's too dark or industrial, or whatever, but I'm here to show you the bright and whimsical side, easily brought out by Carmen's creative genius.  I've used the digital stamps for my project, merging the png images (you get BOTH jpg AND png) and coloring them with Copics and metallic gel pens to match the Graphic 45 DP.  You can see more of Carmen's Steampunk digis HERE and if you prefer rubber, check out the fab New Steampunk Rubber Release.

The hanging itself was cut with my Spellbinders Grand Labels Four with the sentiment from Stampin'Up.  Underneath I couldn't resist layering the fabulous Steampunk Wings to mimic the cool wings on the hummingbird.  This pair is an SCACD exclusive and I'd say a "must have" for Steampunk fans.  You can see more of the SCACD Exclusive dies HERE.  Also available  in the UK at Quixotic Paperie.  Finally, I've added Tim Holtz mini metal gears and a ball chain hanger strung through metal hinge clips keeping with the Steampunk vibe.

I'm entering this in the Corrosive "Happy Everything" Challenge, the Crafty Little Fairies Not a Square, TTRCD Nov 25-Dec 1 ATG, the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge ATG, DLArt Thankful Thursday Any Winter Holiday/...alternative Thank You, Fab 'n Funky ATG w/Die Cuts, Fresh Brewed Designs Give Thanks, Crafty Sentiments Use Die Cuts, Going Grey with Scrap-Creations Give Thanks, PTT ATG, the Digi Sketch Challenge Die Cuts or Punches, Simon Says Wed. Lacy Sunshine North Pole Challenge

It's time for a new Challenge at Lacy Sunshine and the theme this fortnight is The North Pole.  Think winter, snow snowflakes, candy canes, use anything you might find at the North Pole and you're good to go.  And be sure to check out the Loyalty Program digi, free to those who used a Lacy Sunshine Stamp in the previous challenge or 50% off in the Lacy Sunshine Shoppe for the duration of this challenge.  I've used the adorable Candi Cane Ethereal Enchantress.  She's sitting on a snow bank embossed with Snowflake Cuttlebug folder with a stenciled icicle background.  I've use Spellbinders Grand Labels Four to frame the scene.

Candi is colored with Copics in shades of peppermint and spearmint.  At the end of her canes I've added candy and snowflake metal brads.  I had the best time with her gorgeous hair and looky, it's not RED for a change.  LOL  Candi Cane is just one of the fabulous new Ethereal Enchantresses available at the Shoppe, and many were custom made for Lacy Sunshine fans and drawn to exact specifications.  Check out the Lacy Sunshine FB Group page for deets on how to get your own.

Here's the dimensional shot.  Both the upper mat and Candi Cane herself have been popped with foam and I've added a glittered acetate snowflake and a bow from wired pom pom trim to one corner and punched photo corners and tiny buttons to the other three.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog so be sure to check out the fabulous inspiration by my teamies. We can't wait to see what you create.

Aurora 'Daisy Kiss"

This adorable new digi is available at The East Wind TODAY!  Meet Aurora 'Daisy Kiss'.  I've framed her with Spellbinders Circles, Petite Scalloped Circles and Grand Dahlia's and added flourishes from Taylored Expressions.  The layered Prima "poppy" has a mesh ribbon rosette behind and center from a disassembled silk flower.  the dramatic DP is BoBunny Serenade.

Aurora 'Daisy Kiss' was colored with Copics and Prismacolor pencils with some Glossy Accents to her eyes and lips.  Her Braid was fussy cut to hang out the frame (thanks, Jackie!) and I've added a bow at the end.  I've colored the flowers like poppies (for rememberance, a little late) to match the gorgeous DP.  Isn't she just beautiful?

I'm entering this in the Brown Sugar Use Two or More ColorsPapertake Weekly So Girly Challenge, the Crafter's Cafe ATG, TTRCD ATG Nov 18-24, Crafty Boots Rememberance, the Fitztown ATG Challenge, Stamp and Create November Ribbons or Bows, 613 Avenue Create ATG, Jo's Scrap Shack ATG, and Squigglefly Give Me a Square Deal.

Aurora Wings Challenge #9

It's time for a new challenge at Aurora Wings and we've made it easy for you. Our new theme is Anything Goes and I've made a little Thanksgiving card using a number of the adorable Sprites.

I've modified a center step card to better accommodate all the little Sprites and used very old DP from the Debbie Mumm Holiday Glitter pack from JoAnn's.  the sentiment is computer generated and cut and embossed with a Spellbinder's Petite Scalloped Oval and inked with Distress.  The leaf is recycled "table confetti".

So let me introduce the Sprites.  First we have Corn Sprite,  Poor little guy looks kinda sad.  I tried to choose ones that might appear in our Thanksgiving Dinner. Corn pudding anyone?  Maybe that's why.  All images have been colored with Copics, and fussy cut.

Next we have  Artichoke Sprite,  I was thinking spinach artichoke dip here.

Cauliflower (or Broccoli) Sprite.  He's cauliflower today, thinking roasted cauliflower gratin, although we'll probably be having broccoli.  Needed a change from all the green.  LOL

Pumpkin Pie Kitten.  I'm the "pie girl" at Thanksgiving.  We'll be having pumpkin as well as pecan (my favorite!).  Tell me that kitty isn't the sweetest EVER! (Still workin' on that fur!)  This reminds me of Thanksgivings past when our friend's little boy (he'll be 21 in December) couldn't wait for pie and when we came out to cut it, it had little finger gouges in it.  I decorate my pies with crust cut outs which had strategically moved to disguise the the holes. LOL  (Of course, he didn't do it.)

And finally, the star of the show,  Turkey Sprite.  He's now available in the AW Etsy shop in both jpg and png formats.  Mitzi is in the process of converting many of her images to png so look for the colored dotty background if that's the format you want.  Turkey Sprite is mounted on an action wobble so he "wobbles when he gobbles".  Couldn't manage an action shot.  You'll just have to trust me on this.  I managed to resist that sentiment however.  LOL

Thanks for hanging in there with me, I had so much fun coloring these cuties. The team has had free reign with this challenge so be sure to visit the AW Challenge Blog to see the fabulous inspiration there.  We're so looking forward to what you come up with.  And don't forget to scroll down to see the lucky winners from our last challenge.  Our 1st Anniversary FB contest is still open with the theme of "My Favorite AW digi" so pop over and join us there, as well.

Baby it's COLD Outside!

It's time for a new challenge at The East Wind and this time the theme is "Baby, it's Cold Outside".  Pretty fitting, considering the cold wave that's sweeping the country (but not here in CA, it's been in the 70's. Yeah, I know, we're sooo spoiled).  I had a hard time choosing an image for this one because there are so many fabulous ones appropriate for this theme at The East Wind Etsy Shop, but my new XCut Build a Scene die was just itching to be used and I thought the gorgeous Lucy Loo 'Cat Walk' was the perfect choice.  I embossed the top layer with the Cuttlebug limited edition snowfall folder to add some softness to the cold frosty scene.  The sentiment is a Starform peel off sticker in silver metallic to match the silvery moon. Lucy looks like she's missing someone, don't you think?  It's so hard to be away from the ones you love at Christmas.

I've colored Lucy with Copics and kept the look monochromatic.  She does look blue, but at least she's keeping warm in that fabulous fur coat and hat.  My teamies have some fabulous inspiration so be sure to visit the Challenge Blog and see their fabulous makes and scroll down to see the winners of our Go Green Challenge while you're there.  Can't wait to see how you all are keeping warm and cozy, so please join us.

I'm entering this in the Jingle Belles Great Outdoors Challenge, Sweet Pea Stampers Let Us Remember/Sympathy/Thinking of You, Addicted to Stamps and More ATG, Little Red Wagon 50 Shades of?, Stampavie and More Monochrome, Papertake Weekly 2 or 4 Legs, Through the Purple Haze Use Punch or Die, the Dies R Us Christmas challenge and Holly Jolly Christmas Color Choice (Blue,White,Silver)

Christmas Tree Sprite - New Release from Aurora Wings

Today I'm hanging with the Aurora Wings Showcase Team again and am very excited to introduce the adorable new release, Christmas Tree Sprite, debuting today at Aurora Wings on Etsy and the Aurora Wings Digi Shop.  I just love all Mitzi's Sprites, they're so sweet and whimsical, and he is no exception.  A must for Christmas, don'tcha think?  I thought he'd make a great tag to go on a special present.  The tag was cut with my trimmer and I've used a MS Gingerbread punch along the bottom.

Isn't he the sweetest?  He's colored with Copics and I've used Card Candy and adhesive beads for his ornaments.  The star on top is a glitter sticker from JoLee's.

I actually printed him 7 times to get the dimension I was going for.  I don't scan my images for layering each layer was colored individually, fussy cut and popped.  He's standing on some mini blocks (with a hug and a kiss) and I've added some buttons and ribbon to finish it off.  For more inspiration, be sure to visit the Showcase Blog to see the gorgeous creations by the Showcase Team.

I'm entering this in the C.R.A.F.T. Christmas Challenge, the Outlawz Paper a la Mode Cute Christmas, the Divas by Design Photo Inspiration Challenge, the Holly Jolly Christmas Color Choice Challenge (red, green and white), Papertake Weekly 2 or 4 Legs, Sweet Stamps Lovely Layers, TTRCD ATG, Craftin Desert Diva's Tags Linky Party, the Simon Says Monday Ornaments Challenge, TTPH Use a Punch or Die Challenge (MS punch along the bottom),  and last, but never least, 613 Avenue Create ATG/RAK Challenge.

Delicious Darkness Challenge #4

It's the 13th of the month and you know what that means.  We've a brand new Challenge at Delicious Darkness with the theme of ATG/Bloody Hell.  I've changed all the digis I used to a bloody red in my PrintMaster Platinum Program.  The base DP is the 666 paper from the Beastly Paper Pack.  The next layer is the Pile o' Bones Paper and I cropped and added the terrifying Halloween Freebie from the Delicious Darkness FB group to opposing corners.  (One was flipped)  I cut a window in the center of that layer with my Spellbinders Deckle Rectangle, popped that layer and added Let Me Out!! recessed in the window.  Finished it off with MS Drippy Goo (or should I say Drippy Blood) and there you have it.  Bloody HELL!

I'm adding this to Left of Center using the LOC theme.

Deedee's Digis Progressive Challenge

I was the lucky winner of the Freebie Challenge during the Outlawz Forum fabulous party last month and was introduced to Deedee's Digis.  Among my winnings I chose the adorable Mix it Up set which is also the Digi of the Month for November.  I also found out about their monthly Progressive Challenge in which you use the Digi of the Month, and after creating a project, you receive the next month's digi for free.

The cool thing abut Deedee's Digis is they come as a set with precolored images, papers, sentiments, as well as digi stamps to color yourself.  I hadn't really planned on doing an all digital project, but when I started playing in my PrintMaster Platinum program, this was the result.  It's a card and tag that will be great for the holiday gifty baked goods, don'tcha think?  I plan on using it for my mailman.  I may print out the recipe of whatever I finally decide to bake on a separate Checked Recipe card (a Freebie from Deedee's Digis) as well. WooHoo!

Besides Deedee's Digi's November Progressive challenge, I'm also entering this in Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Keep it Flat Challenge (can't get much flatter than this, LOL), the Eureka Stamps 4 Legged Friends Challenge, the Craft Your Passion Something Beginning with "B" (bowls and bow on tag spoon), the Incy Wincy Stripes Challenge and 613 Avenue Create ATC/or optional RAK Twist.

Lacy Sunshine Harvest/Thanksgiving Challenge

Our new challenge begins today at the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog and with the theme of Harvest/Thanksgiving.  Sweet Rory is one of my favorite Lacy Sunshine characters and this time I've used Rory's Giant Pumpkin.  I've made and easel card and dug down deep in my stash for harvest and Thanksgiving theme DP's, most of these (including the frames and "Blessings" sentiment) are from the Debbie Mumm for JoAnn Fabrics Harvest and Holiday Stack (circa 2008).  The antique Pumpkin Label is a Freebie from the Graphics Fairy and I've used a twig wreath die from Memory Box and leaves from "table confetti" that I've recycled.

I've colored Rory with Copics and fussy cut her to pop her on the printed frame. The added "grass" was cut with my MS icicles border die.

I've popped the frame and sentiment to capture the easel, some more leaves and some Card Candy for interest.  Please visit the Challenge Blog for more inspiration and remember, if you used a Lacy Sunshine image in the last challenge, you may email Audrey for the loyalty program freebie for this one.  Hope to see you there.  Also, We're so excited that Heather has created some amazing new characters, so be sure to check out the New section of the Lacy Sunshine Crafter's Candy Shoppe

Aurora Wings New Release - Rococo Cinderella

I'm excited to be joining the Aurora Wings Showcase team for the new release of Rococo Cinderella.  I grew up with the original Disney animated movie so I just had to do my project in the traditional blues.  The base cuts are Spellbinders Grand Decorative Ovals One cut from the DCWV Luxury Stack.

I had such fun coloring Cinderella with my Copics.  Her dress details are to die for and you  can view all other the fabulous interpretations by the team on the Showcase Blog.

I actually just bought this adorable Pumpkin Carriage die from Cheery Lyn just to use on this project.  The clock is Tim Holtz and the lost slipper is a punch. You can find this fabulous new digi in the Aurora Wings Etsy Shop in both jpg and png and in the Aurora Wings Shop in jpg.

I'm entering this in the Simon Says Wednesday ATG challenge, Incy Wincy Inspired by a Song, Book or Movie (Cinderella), Love to Create Girly and Lacy, Through the Purple Haze Tattered Lace ATG and Tuesday Throwdown Dressed Up.

The Outlawz Sunday CAS Challenge

Yeah, I know, when it rains it pours.  LOL  If you're looking for the Dia de los Muertos Blog Hop click HERE, or the TEW Go Green Challenge click HERE.

It's been awhile since I've done a CAS card and the Outlawz Sunday CAS Challenge this week is Going to the Pumpkin Patch.  Yea!  I'm still in Halloween mode and was dying to use this cute new stamp from ADFD.  She's one of the Pumpkin Heads, but the regular shop is closed for a remodel until Nov. 14th and this image isn't available in the Etsy Shop for now.  Anyway, she's colored with Copics and adhered to an A2 card embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  Sentiment is computer generated.  Can't get much more CAS than that.

I'm also entering this in the Crafting by Designs It's Halloween Challenge, Tuesday Throwdown Dressed Up and Simon Says Wednesday ATG.

New Challenge at The East Wind-Go Green

If you are looking for the Dia de los Muertos Blog Hop, please go HERE.

Our new challenge at The East Wind starts today and the DT is using the fabulous freebie you receive with the November newsletter.  Visit the Challenge Blog and look for the big pink rectangle on the right to get yours.  Our new challenge is "Go Green", giving you the option of doing some recycling, or just using a lot of the color GREEN.  I've done both!  the DP's are from the DCWV Green Stack (70% recycled paper), the tree is cut with an old Halloween Cuttlebug die from the corrugated lining they put in the display cartons for Starkist tuna pouches, the grass came with my sushi (and smells like fish LOL No, JK, I washed it first.  Just wondering if you're still with me here), and the embellishments are strung on the ribbon by bread tags.  WooHoo!

I've colored the beautiful Aurora 'Go Green" with Copics in many shades of green to go with her lovely red hair (and because the occasion called for it).  Her stride and the scene I created made me think of the Thanksgiving song so I used the lyrics as my sentiment.  Please visit the Challenge Blog for more inspiration from my wonderful teamies and don't forget to check out the Show Room Blog for fabulous coloring videos done by the artist Unky herself, and creative poems and stories using the gorgeous images from The East Wind.  P.S. We have a FB Contest on our Group Page going on now too with the theme of Animals through November 17th.

I'm entering this in the Mema's Craft November ATG Challenge, the Outlawz Monday Greeting Cards ATG challenge, TTRCD Oct 27th -Nov 3 ATG, Party Time Tuesdays ATG, Polkadoodles Recycle it and Simon Says Wednesday ATG.

Dia de los Muertos Blog Hop

Welcome to the 5th annual Dia de los Muertos Blog Hop.  Wow I can't believe it's been 5 years since this fabulous hop was started.  You should have arrived from  Julietta's Blog, or if you happened upon us this by chance and would like to start from the beginning, go to Patty's Blog HERE.

I've made a mini ofrenda (altar) using the adorable kneeling girl from the Llorona Rubber Stamp set, available as a past offering (July 2014) from Smeared Ink, some mini votives covered in card stock, a punched border and gold border stickers, traditional mini marigolds made from tissue paper and the smallest of the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and a gorgeous cross from Spellbinders for Heartfelt Creations.

I've colored  Her with Copics in bright colors to match my ofrenda.  Too bad she looks so sad.  She is either to young or perhaps didn't get the memo that Dia de los Muertos is a happy celebration of life, not death, and a day to remember our loved ones with smiles, not tears.  This stamp set is available exclusively at Smeared Ink and is now available to the public outside the Rubber Club.

The layered cross is set in an arch cut with my Spellbinders Gothic Arches 1. The inset is a die cut sheet from my stash.  I've added more mini marigolds to the top and jewels to the cross.  OOPs!  Sorry the pic is a little tipsy.

I'm adding this to One Sweet Challenge November Dia de los Muertos and Left of Center Happy Halloween.

I have several other projects that I recently completed and blogged prior to the Hop that I'd also like to share.  One, a wall hanging using the gorgeous Dia de los Muertos Marie Antoinette from Aurora Wings.  You can find the details of this project HERE.

And  the other, a fun party invitation using Mr. and Mrs. Bones from SCACD. They are also available individually in both rubber and digital form. More details on this project HERE

This year our fabulous prizes include 2 $15.00 Gift certificates to the new Snap Dragon Snippets Store and 6 mini Stamp sets from Dilo en Espanol, 3 for the USA and 3 Shipping worldwide.   I hope you've enjoyed what you've seen here.  Now it's time to Hop on to the fabulously talented Ruthie

We seem to be experiencing some difficulties with our links  These should be the correct ones.
