Broken Hearted-Remembering Goliath for the 2019 Cat Lovers Hop

Today is actually Day 5 of the 2019 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden.  You can still enjoy the festivities and friendship that abounds every year at this time, join the daily games for a chance to win a lovely digi set from Ike's Art, be inspired by the enormous talent and possibly add a project or two to the Linky for a chance to win a prize from one of the many fabulous and generous sponsors involved, as there's still another full day of fun to be had and an extra day to hop around and comment.

The rules are in the above link and be sure to SIGN IN HERE if you haven't already, to be eligible for prizes.  Thank you to everyone involved in this Hop, especially Janis who organizes this wonderful event each year.  It's my 4th year participating, but I wasn't sure I'd have a project to link up.  I was late in even realizing it was Hop time because the death of my sweet Goliath in April was a devastating blow and my crafting and blogging have suffered ever since.

Most people who know me through crafting know that coloring is my "thing", but I have only feebly colored one kitty since Goliath passed and that was for a Guest Design team gig.  I've kept up with my work with AuroraWings, but not much else.  So I'm sorry to say this is my first project for the Hop and may be my only. Of course it's dedicated to my sweet kitty boy, Goliath.  I've got hundreds of digis, regular stamps and cat dies strewn all over my craft room but it wasn't until I saw this project by ValeryAnne that I was able to manage a tribute to my boy.  Thank you so much, ValeryAnne!  Your Jigsaw cat card gave me this inspiration and without it, there may not have been any project at all.

The kitty on this card is from a post it note stack that Goliath gave to his Daddy for Christmas quite a few years ago.  It looks just like him, don'tcha think?Momma got one for herself too and I've used the image on a number of cards given to Daddy from his boy.  It was amazing I found it in this hideous clutter, but it was meant to be.  I also managed to unearth my Puzzle heart and sentiment dies from Elizabeth Craft and my Spellbinders cascading hearts Card Creator background.  The gorgeous red crinkle ribbon is from DL.Art.  It's pretty obvious what I did to put this thing together and my post is already WAY longer than intended.

Besides the 2019 Cat Lovers Hop at Her Peaceful Garden, I'm also adding this to the DL.Art October Linky Challenge, the SUYP October Meowloween/Furrything Goes and 2 Crafty Critter Crazies #31.

  1. Oh, Donna, I am so very sorry to hear about your Goliath. It's not fair that we have these beautiful creatures in our lives for such a short time. They truly do wrap themselves around our hearts. Your tribute card is not only incredibly clever in design, but s lovely way to honor him.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving such a kind and thoughtful comment about both my cancer battle as well as my card. It means a lot!

    Have a good weekend!

  3. Awww, I'm sure that Goliath was a really special boy, and I can understand losing your motivation to craft for a time. Bailey was my special cat, and it still hurts when I miss him. This is a beautiful tribute to Goliath, and that puzzle heart is the perfect symbol of the place he held in your life.

  14. Oh, Donna...this is such a beautiful tribute to your sweet Goliath. I get teary-eyed looking at it and reading your post. I am so honored that you were able to share this with us...I know it was hard.

I love that you got inspiration from Mrs.A's lovely puzzle card. This puzzle heart you used could not be more perfect. That sticky note "portrait" does look just like him. What a great way to include him on the card. Everything turned out beautiful. The red and white colors and al the hearts showering down...truly gorgeous.

Thank you for sharing Goliath with us over the years and letting us share your grief. What is that old proverb about friendship...."Friends double your joys and divide your sorrows." Hugs.

Thank you so much for playing along in the #2019CatLoversHop!!

  15. I share your sadness in losing Goliath. If you haven't lost a special pet, you just don't understand the overwhelming grief. Goliath certainly looked like he lived up to his name!!

  18. It's great that you found some inspiration. I think that Goliath is with you more than you know...if you are in your craft room and feel something rub on your leg and look, but nothing is there...maybe there is. He might visit you when you need it the most. Just so sorry that you are not finding peace in his passing. Sending you hugs.

  19. Oh Donna! I had no idea! I wish I could reach in and give you the biggest heartfelt hug ❤️❤️❤️ I so know how you feel as this was me last year. The heart just hurts. Doing projects on Blackie last year wasn’t easy though it did turn out cathartic. I feel Blackie’s presence at times, as I’m sure Goliath is looking at you with love 💕 . It’s a lovely tribute you’ve created XX

  20. I feel like I understand your pain, Donna. I never got over losing my Muffin and that was 15 years ago, still cry every time I read about someone else losing a beloved kitty. He was such a special boy, as I know your Goliath was to you. I was blessed to have Muffin for 18 years, but it wasn't long enough. I'm so glad you worked up the courage to make this card and I hope it will help in your grieving process. The card says it all. I hope your heart will mend in time. Sending lots of love and hugs.

  21. Donna, how lovely to see you posting a card! My heart goes out to you - it's just awful when you lose a pet. You have made a huge step forward, just reading and commenting on others' work, but I am so pleased you felt inspired to make a project yourself! And what a beauty! Love the heart jigsaw and the tiny hearts cascading in the background. The post-it image is a good likeness to Goliath. Well done, sweetie! Sending hugs to you and your loved ones. xx

  23. Your Goliath was a very beautiful boy, and I'm so sorry for your loss. ❤️ I know so well how big could be the pain loosing a furry-baby. Your exploded puzzle heart with that the crinkled ribbon are really the perfect symbol of your pain and says it all...
Crafting helps a bit... it's therapeutic, and hope that making this card helps you to accept the pain and move on.
Goliath surely looks at you from the rainbow bridge, but you can't see him.❤️ This is also for lost humans that we love. I believe in this. ❤️
