This is a very busy Monday for me! I'm so excited about the new Challenge at Aurora Wings with the exciting theme of
Bummer!
Didn't quite know how to age the bottle, but tried some Rock Candy Crackle paint. Seemed like the bottle of paint was too small to paint my whole bottle so I didn't try to cover it all. Unfortunately, I didn't apply it thick enough to get the large crackle I was going for, and it kind of looked frosty, so I took alcohol inks and ran them down the bottle, diluting them in places with Copic blender.
I draped a chain around the neck of the bottle and added a compass. Finally, I stuffed more moss into the top and glued on a shell stopper that I'd painted, and sprinkled with mica flakes and added the bottom leg bones and foot coming out of the opening in the shell. (hee hee!) I don't often do projects like this because I'm way to impatient to wait for things to dry, but I gotta say, after some tense moments, I really love how it came out.
Now, please visit the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog to see the fabulously dark and gorgeous projects by my DT Sisters and don't forget to scroll down to see the winners from Challenge #6. Also, our September FB Challenge, which runs through September 30th is Anything Goes, so be sure to enter both challenges, if appropriate. I hope you're inspired to channel your dark side.
I'm adding this to the Punk You Girl What Creeps Under The Sea Challenge, Left of Center No Designer Paper, 613 Avenue Create ATG, ALBC Distress It, Altered Eclectics September ATG (mixed media), The Mirror Cracked (first challenge, WOOHOO!) ATG Mixed Media, All Crafts Aug/Sept Challenge, and Simon Says Monday Rock the Techniques.
This is absolutely awesome! I love it!

My Holy Freaking G-d! (nice professional comment!!!) this is absolutely unreal! I am so glad you wrote how you did this Donna. But I am very sad you drank all this up (boooo) and I hope you replaced it quickly! Your explanation is stellar because I would NOT have a clue what you did to get there. Do you have a HUGE collection of Tim and otherwise metal in your crafts? It looks like a candy shop of wonderbar pieces on this and I really tell you, if I saw this in a shop I would covet it immediately! I hope you sell these - in fact all your work. Get that etsy going girl!!! Your addition to Punk You Girl is amazing Donna!!!! Many thanks. Luvz Samara DT PYG. x

Another winner here Donna! I wish I had the time to create pieces like this more often, so much detail - I could just sit and look at this all day. Thanks so much for another inspiring piece of art (and thanks for sharing at LOC and PYG too!!)

ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible piece of art. So detailed and beautiful. Thanks for joining us at The Mirror Crack'd - hope to see you again with your fab creations. Cxxx
ReplyDeleteOh My!!! Donna, this is an exceptional piece. I absolutely love it, so much wonderful detail. Also love how you used the lichen & moss, they really add to the old and overgrown look of your bottle. You'd love the moss that grows around here, it is a lovely green color similar to the green in the area of your Rock Candy Crackle paint. I have been saving a bag of it for quite some time and will have to go look for it again. Thank you for the fabulous inspiration, you're piece is simply too gorgeous for words.
