Less than one week 'til Mother's Day and the Tiddly Inkers challenge is to create a Mother's Day card with a vintage vibe. I decided to make a Mother's Day card for a brand new mom using Lullaby. (Of course it could also work as a Baby card) It's cut with a Nesties Circle and fit into my Spellbinders Decorative Oval Window from Heartfelt Creations. The pretty vintage paper is from the 8x8 Once Upon a Springtime pad from Grahic 45 and the gorgeous vintage shabby crinkle ribbon is from the Alice Bundle from Prairie Bird Boutique sent to me by my dear friend Stephanie (perfect timing there girlie, thanks so much!) I'm pretty sure the sweet charm came from J's.
The image is colored with Copics on some of the most fabulous card stock I've ever used. Have to detour a bit to give it a plug. I normally just use crap paper (or I guess I should say inexpensive 110 lb. white card stock by Georgia Pacific from WalMart) because I mess it up frequently so it's way more cost effective for me. I know people swear by all sorts of fancy brands but I'm too lazy to sort them out so I don't bother. However, when I bought cheap cream colored card stock it was WAY to porous for my Copics. Sometimes you just need to stamp or print on cream so when I was over at MFT I saw these Cream Perfect Paper Panels. Worth a try. I printed an image out first on regular copy paper and then taped a panel to the paper and ran it through my printer again. Then I colored and messed up. Mom looked like she'd been baking under a sun lamp and the baby had jaundice. Oh dear! I tried to fix it by coloring more. Hmmm... Then tried using my using my colorless blender. Hmmmm... Anyway, I used alot of ink and eventually gave up. Gonna have to print again and start over. CRAP! And on my fab new card stock too BUT, when I turned the panel over there was NO bleedthrough. None, Zero, ZIP! I actually turned my piece over and reprinted it on the other side. I chose my colors more carefully this time and did an acceptable job. I kept thinking when I colored on this side the color would come creeping up from behind, but it didn't. ARE you KIDDING me? I LOVE this stuff! (This was totally unsolicited. I was just blown away and had to share. xx)
I love the way the circle image fit into the frame and I popped the whole thing up for dimension. Details on the frame were inked with Spun Sugar Distress Inks and the sentiment was computer generated. As usual, my teamies have done a fabulous job with the challenge so be sure to visit the Challenge Blog, take a look, be inspired and hopefully play along. Also, the 25% off sale is still going on through TODAY at the SHOP so now's a great time to check out all the gorgeous new images and snag a few of your old faves too. and there's also still time to complete the Treasure Hunt Blog Hop so if you haven't checked it out yest click HERE. And we're still celebrating Tiddly Inks birthday so stay tuned for details of our next party, coming May 10th.

This is beautiful Donna and I LOVE that little charm! That's amazing about your card stock - I like you mostly use the cheap Walmart stuff - it works well I think...but I tried the X-press it recently and well it blends so well - but I only use it occasionally as it's just too expensive for everyday!! Gorgeous card though and I love this non-jaundice look on the baby ;D!
ReplyDeleteHUGS,
M
Your colouring is GREAT - no jaundice or bad spray tanning at all.
ReplyDeleteThe tidbit about the MTF paper is kewl. I use Xpress It and am a very heaving handed colourist, it definitely bleed through to the back.
I love the decorative oval window, tres beautiful.
I love how you went more shabby chic. I was very vintage focused, I never thought of shabby chic. I know so many shabby chic moms who would drool over this card.
Haha you had me worried there I was like mother's day, wasn't that last month! Then silly me remembered you are in America. Absolutely gorgeous creation AGAIN x
ReplyDeleteLOL.. I wonder if there is anything out there that you don't have... I love that Spellbinders Decorative Oval Window... should I or shouldn't I... would I ever use it??? Awesome card... hugs

I love the Spellbinders frame you used...it's perfect for the image and dangely charms are all the rage! Great card!
ReplyDeleteCheap paper and/or not waiting until the ink dries....both are a PITA!
So, you must be Chickie! The famous Donna that mom is always talking about. I have no idea what you said, but it sure sounds good. LOL! You're cards are awesome! How the heck do you do that?
ReplyDeleteLOVE that image with the Nestie! Seriously, you've got to stop using all this great stuff... makes me want to have it! That ribbon is so pretty and along with the pearls and charm give it such a feminine feel. Dig the image. I probably dig the other side too! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet image and the way you framed it is fabulous! Love the paper you used and the ribbon with the heart charm is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card!!! I just love this card. This background paper and the designs are awesome. I like this image and the way you colored.
ReplyDeleteThat ribbon work with the dollar is looking great.
Thanks for this great post.Magento Themes
LOVE the image and how you used it with the Nestie. I am totally ingtrigued by the paper. I use SU whisper white and it works perfectly but I make lots of errors and need to restart so it is expensive. I am going to get some of these panels. The price is really reasonable. The ribbon looks gorgeous on your card. I am so glad you like it. Thanks for reminding me about my charms. I always forget about them. Taking them out and keeping them on my craft table. Your awesome!!!
