Bah! Humbug! Christmas Cracker Challenge


This week at Bah! Humbug! the challenge is Christmas Crackers. How fun! Wish that were more a tradition in the U.S. because I just love the idea. Sets a festive table, for sure. As usual, my worst dilemma was choosing paper. I wanted to make an elegant cracker (like the fabulous one offered as a Spot Prize this week) that would look pretty with my Mom's china. Then I remembered the gorgeous Linen Pack I'd won as a Spot Prize from the lovely Humbuggers last year. OOOh, it was tough to cut into. I'd been hoarding it for months but I dare say it was exactly what I was looking for. Not much else needed, just some ribbon and peelie borders to finish it off.

And of course a little Christmas greeting, UK style. Thanks again for my lovely prize, ladies. As you can see I'll be putting it to good use. And carry on, Carole and Ann. Fabulous work! Hope Max and Irene are on the mend, though. I miss you both. xx

    We do these at our house and everyone loves it! It is such a fun tradition (thanks Mom!).
    And wow, your TCS project and BBTB2 are AWESOME!!!!

    Now I need to get back into it today and start cutting out my designs...love ya!!!!

    Hey there Donna. Your Christmas Cracker is beautiful. I LOVE the paper you chose. Gasping as I admit I never heard of a Christmas Cracker before and had to google it. Being blonde, I still don't get it, gasping again! From what I get it is a tube covered in paper at the center point, with just paper hanging on each end. Well, you made it look gorgeous either way.

    Goodness Donna until this challenge I really didn't realise that 'crackers' were not really used in America. Gosh I knew my daughter had introduced them to her Spanish friends (along with gravy) when she worked there but had no idea we were holding a challenge that would prove so dodgy.
    Love your cracker - your work is always stunning and this week is no exception.

    What a beautifully elegant cracker you have created with the linen papers Donna. Well done for being so brave and using them. Like Ann, I didn't realise that crackers were such an 'unknown' in USA ... maybe we should start a Campaign For Crackers in 2011 lol? Thank you for sharing with us at Bah! Humbug!

    This is just lovely. The embossed sentiment is perfect! You can make crackers a tradition at your house. We do them every year. In fact, I'm surprised my husband stuck around after spending his first Christmas with my paper-crown adorned family!! (He wears them proudly now too.)
