I'm gonna apologize right up front for this card. I had great intentions this week because the Bah! Humbug! challenge was stitching real or faux and I was going to attempt, for the first time EVER, to stitch on a card using my sewing machine. And then the weather turned lovely. And then I walked this morning. And then DH suggested going out to lunch and after 2 glasses of wine it lead to an (ahem) nap. Oh crap! The challenge. Needless to say, I almost blew it off BUT as the good Loyalty Member that I am, I persevered, looking for an image that lent itself to stitching in some way shape or form (and was so tiny that it didn't take much to color. LOL) Yea, Fluffie! However it did take 2 attempts, because the darn thing was too small to get any nuance with Copics so I brought out the Prismas (not that it helped much, but a little.) So what about the stitiching? I was WAY too impared to fire up the machine so I pierced and intended to use my gel pen for faux. But it looked BAD! Out came the needle and floss and I stitched by hand... quite shakily I'm afraid. Thank heaven I cut the mat with my new deckle oval Nestie so it sort of looked like it was planned. (Well, maybe.) Anyway, that's the card, devoid of further embellishemnt because it's probably going in the bin. A total embarrassment, but I'm sure Max, Ann, and Irene will at least appreciate the effort.
Hmmm ... if this is your idea of bad work after a bit of sauce ... you really should see my GOOD work after a pint or two ... you would feel A LOT better. :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is adorable: Very nice and simple.
:)
You soooooo under-estimate yourself, dear Donna! This is precious! Not only is your stitching perfect, but did you notice the knitting in the image? I count that as stitching! So if that California wine (it was Calif-vino, right?) contributed to your genius then I gotta get me some! Hic!
ReplyDeleteLove ya!
Barb
Well, I appreciate your effort and your card as well, but I enjoyed the story behind the card more! Hope your great day turned into a wonderful evening.

Bad??? What's bad about this card, Donna?!! I loved your hand-stitching! It is looking so cool. But I do wish you had taken a better picture (like you always do!)... The poor little card seems to be frightened of your disappointed looks... Hope it knows that we all love it!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Smita
Funny Smita! I didn't want to get that close. LOL
ReplyDeleteI do my best creative scrapping after a margarita LOL. I also do my best cleaning then too! I think you underestimated this card...it's super cute :)
ReplyDeleteGood Evening!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day! who knew!
Well geez I wish we could switch days! a little wine, a little "nap"...instead I spent the time at the Doctor for little Cody who's got some skin thing going on (sleeping with a sock on his hand).
This is really cute and funny too because I had been thinking I need to try this hand stitching again (just awful time consuming!) Simple card, but simply sweet!
LOL..love the card..and I love the story behind it too...your work is awesome no matter what :)

ReplyDeleteHi Donna,
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with this card. I think it's cute. However, you must stop letting him keep you away from crafting - these men just don't understand.Lol.
Hugs,

It's a wonderful card, AND you put PLAID in it. You might have seen my plaid card on my blog lol. There's much more coming btw :D. I love the card, even the bits without plaid lol.
ReplyDeleteYou're nuts, girl! The stitching looks great as does the coloring! Now pass the wine so I can get a card done. LOL! Deckled ovals??? How the hell did I miss those? Gotta get me some.
ReplyDeleteI love morning giggles and this one did it for me. Glad you got it done and it is darling. Hugs

What a super cute card - and I for one thought your stitching was great! You'll have to always have some vino around for scrapping! TFS!

The image chosen for the card is delightfully suited to the stitching theme...the photo quality doesn't do it justice but the card's a really cute interpretation of the challenge...cheers!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely ADORABLE.....and am I the ONLY one who got the "ahem...nap" comment?!!! (Or am I the only one who is bold enough to snicker at that?) heehee.
ReplyDeleteOh Donna this is wonderful!! You always ROCK everything you do!!!! I haven't been by in awhile, and I do apologize...but I would gladly walk in your shoes for a day!!! I am over extended and have had no help, dh is out of town and I am all alone w/these nine crazy kiddos. I am also working three days a week, cleaning cottages at the beach...and the new classes I have started on....making projects for that.... so so sorry I have not been by to adore your most excellent creations!! The water can and the Paris hanging are my new favs. of yours. I also want to thank you for that wonderful comment you left me...I was cracking up....You really did make my day!! Rock on with this card it is awesome and once again I do love that idea of that challenge. Giant Hugs and can't wait to see your next goody!!! Have a Beautiful Day, Dawn
ReplyDeleteI love this, but even more important I love your Sandra Boynton stamps. I didn't even know they existed (at least at one time, can't find them now). My husband and I have been fans since high school and when we were in college writing letters, I had boynton stickers, stationery etc. I need those stamps!! lol Glad you had a wonderful day including your "nap", I've been sick as a dog!! lol.
ReplyDeleteOh Donna, you are so funny. Last week I tried to make a card after ONE glass of wine but had to give it up as a bad idea because my eyes couldn't focus...you did a fabulous job on this one. On the morning news last week they said that taking a 90 minute nap each day makes you smarter. I don't know if there is any truth to it but after a glass of wine it sure couldn't hurt to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteyou wont believe when I tell you I was looking today at some tags I made for Christmas and did not used... same cardstock. Yeah!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love that stamp! I'm looking forward to using him next year...
ReplyDeleteGreat card Donna!
Hugs!

Aww Donna, you are way to hard on yourself! This is darling! I applaud you posting a card you really didn't end up liking though...I have created many stinkers in my time and I assure they DO NOT get shown :-)
